Wow,that doesn't sound good!!!It could be 1 of 2 things.First check your belt tensioner, see if the hydraulic shock is bouncing up and down.Second, you are fubared and you have some serious rod knock.Hoping it's not the second.

For some reason it sounds different that KerryKerry'sAnd if you do need an engine; I would check the local bone yards around Bay City, there probably are a few good 2ZZ engines there with low miles.

ok update on the vibe the #4 rod bearing washed out but i caught it just in time to be replaced im going to replace all rod bearing then it will be up for sale after i put some miles on it , i will do a step by step on taking apart the bottom en with out pulling the eninge to replace bearings. now im very excited to know its not the crankshaft bearing just the rod beaings , i will offer a rebuild service to anyone who has a vibe for 250 to replace the rod bearing as i see this is becoming a common problem

Oh god, that noise!!! That's the noise my engine made before all the internals fried (removed)...I had to replace my entire engine last year. They said there was no oil in the oil pan??? Wasn't burning OR leaking oil....figure that one out? I still do not have any answers and it cost me $3500 to put in a new engine that had 35,000 miles. This engine also seems slower than the old. Good luck! My knock started in the head and within 15 minutes or so moved into the crank as well. Sounded identical to that. It would knock at low rpm, calm down a little bit when the rpm go higher, then started again.I keep meaning to contact GM to see if they had any solution as to why it happened but i keep forgetting.
