Open the passenger door, open the glove box use a Phillips screwdriver to undo the screw for the cylinder and then you can remove the boxIt's the same for 2003-2008 models

HiNot to be too silly but I tried that but was afraid I would damage the glove box. Do I have to force the sides of the box inward and then pull it out? Thanks

You don't even need any tools to remove it. Just open it, push in on the right side so the catch gets past the edge, lift up off the hinges on the bottom and then the cylinder stays attached ot the glove box and just pops off the hole on the frame. Super easy, you'll have it out in less than 5 seconds once you know what to do.

kevin: it depends on what year Vibe you have. The '09 glovebox is easier to remove than the earlier versions, even though they are removed in the same fashion. It takes a little more muscle power to remove the '03-'08 version. You won't break anything. You'll likely forget to remove items from your glovebox first and dump them out all over the place, but you won't break anything. If you are going in to take out the cabin air filter, be careful. As with the case of removing the glovebox, removing the cabin filter cover is easier on the '09 and only has one side clip. The earlier versions have two clips which are a bit counterintuitive as to the direction you are supposed to release them. They break easily. Not the end of the world if you do, but I just wanted you to know.
