New 1.8l Vibe (on order)

After months of lurking on this forum, I've got myself an 09 Vibe on order! It's a 5-speed manual 1.8L platinum metallic (hard to decide between that and the red), with the SE (1sb) package and a block heater. It sounds like it will be about 2 months. As soon as I have it I PROMISE pictures. Out in eastern Canada there are almost no standards around to I had to order.Interestingly I have signed nothing. I live in an isolated location so they are the only GM dealer in town (there is a pseudo Ford/Nissan dealer as well, that's it) so I guess they figured I won't be going to anyone else in the mean time. They said we'll haggle over price when it comes in, and deal with the trade in then as well.I want to pay for the car in cash (I know I'm in the minority these days) and it seems GM isn't expecting anyone to do that. They've got 0% financing or $2,500 if you arrange long term outside financing...but NO cash incentives in Canada. Why don't they want people to pay cash? I'm hoping there might be something by December, especially if the economy hurts car sales. That will save me the hassle of getting bank financing and paying it back right away (with bank penalties), all just to save a grand or two. Or I'll do the interest free financing and leave my money sitting in the bank collecting interest. With GM's financial problems I'd think they'd want to encourage cash on the barrel.

They don't want you to pay cash because they want you to use their financing. But cash is king!

If you qualify for 0%, then do that. Put the cash in high interest savings account.

yah SinisterMind, that's my plan. I'll keep the money earning interest and go with the 0%. Offering that financing costs GM money (hence why there are incentives for outside financing) so I don't see why they wouldn't rather get the cash but oh well!

Everything comes down to two items, payment and term. Get the ones you want and your set, everything else is just extra flab.

Too bad Toyota doesn't do 0% on the Matrix. We got 2.9 for 48 months, which is not bad either.

I'm wondering who makes the engine in the new 09. I just picked up one last week and the sitcker said the engine was made in USA?Nothing against the US but I thought that I was getting a Toyota made engine and drivetrain? The Vibe that I test drove was a 2.4L and it was a Japan/Japan engine/transmission Mine is a 1.8L USA/Japan Engine/Transmission? Is this correct

personally i have always paid cash for cars and the opted out of the collision insurrance. If you dont fully own the car you have to get collision. I currently pay $34 a month to insure a WRX!! if i had collision im sure it would be over $100.

Is this correct Most of the 1.8L (1ZZ-FE) engines in 2003-2008 Vibes were made here: http://www.toyota.com/about/ou....html"TMMWV (Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia, Inc.) manufactures 4-cylinder and V6 engines, five-speed automatic transmissions and automatic transmission gears. TMMWV has an annual capacity of more than 550,000 engines and 600,000 automatic transmissions."My guess is that the new 2009 1.8L (2ZR-FE) engines are made there now.A good article on TMMWV: http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/050104.html
