same engine as my ms3 :D word is they are awesome. Strong engine, reliable and not too bad of gas mileage. Consumer reports likes them too.

I briefly looked at one, but no stick and horrible fuel economy turned me instantly away. And premium gas for that turbo.

one of my co-workers has one and let me drive it the second day he had it. I loved it but he does complain that the mileage and premium fuel has been a little bit of a disappointment. Of couse, he's kind of a cheapskate to begin with. He's happy with the vehicle besides the mileage/fuel issue.

Actually, since 2008 the Mazda CX-7 engine now allows for flexible fuel, so it no longer requires premium fuel. In the owner's manual it allows 87 octane fuel, but does say performance may be decreased.

My only concerns would be the fuel consumption and type. Other than that I drove one once and really could not get used to the super-raked windshield. For an SUV it just gave me huge blinders.
