HID, bi-xenon or single beam?

Post by Wolfman213 »

Question for all of you that have HID setups currently, did you go with a single bea or go the bi-xenon route? I have an 06 and plan on upgrading both the fog and driving lights, but am just curious on whether or not it will be worth it using the bi-xenon. I had a 98 Grand Prix with fog and driving HIDs and had the bi-xenon and the high beam was worse than the low with the fogs on. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure with the Vibe if you can do single beam. The bulbs used stock are 9003 which are a dual hi/lo. I do not believe they make a single filament 9003. So bi-xenon would be the only way to go. With the Trix like mine, the lo is 9006 and the high is 9005, therefore you can opt out of both as it would be two separate systems.Again I'm not sure they make a 9003 HID replacement bulb that is not bi-xenon.

Yeah, they make them. It's just a H4. The bixenon, that I am looking at, is a telescoping bulb. I won't have a high beam period if I go the single route. I would def prefer the setup you have though with having seperate highs and los. Thank's for the input!

Yes, they make the bi-xenon set up. I am running them, in my headlights. I also have a HID set up in my fogs.(don't really need them) Did it to match reallyIf you have the money go for the bi-xenon. You won't be disapointed. Yes they do make a low beam only kit, but with that kit you lose your highbeams all together. You won't pass inspection with out a highbeam. They also make a kit that is HID lowbeam and halogen hibeam. If you don't have the cash for the Bi-xenon kit. go with the xenon kit. Although Whelan was trying to help his info is clouded only because he has a Matrix and they use totally different lights.

Yeah, me and the headlight talk to you guys can get confusing cause I drive a Matrix. The only thing similar in our cars for lamps up front is the fogs that all use a 9006.Speaking of which I wanna replace my lamps with new ones, get some clear vinyl and get the 3k HID kit for them. That's the next step. Aside from painting the headlights black on the inside.

so the high beam HID have good projection in the Vibe then? the grand prix I mention was horrid for the highs and that's once thing that I was worried about and figured I would save some money if it wasn't worth anything, but I'm probably going to go with your advice and get the bixenon then. thanks guys!!!

im with you on the telescopic high beams sucking. id get the hid low/ halogen high setup. plus that way if your ballast burns out at least youll still have highbeams in an emergency. plus the telescopic part breaks often mine did.

most aren't tilting lights anymore. most are actuated by a magnet. low beam not magnet, highbeam magnet ingaged. The bulbs move in and out. not Up and down.Even if the magnet failed the bulb would still light in the lowbeam position only.I have had my kit with the bulb that moves in and out, for over a year now with out issue.I use my high beams often.
