Audio questions from potential buyer

Im looking at two Vibes, 1 with the Monsoon and 1 without. The price difference is almost a thousand dollars. Im thinking since I already have a sub and amps that are coming from my trade in, that the best bet is to go with the the standard stereo system. However Im going to lose the nifty cargo area that is one of the features that I really enjoyed about this car. Is there any way to save any of this area? Do you all agree that the Monsoon is lacking? Ive seen a lot of threads on here of people saying so. Also if possible can some of you guys post pics of your sub set ups? Also, what do subs sound like in these cars? They arent sealed in a trunk or hatch area, they are basically just in the cockpit with you. Does this make the whole car vibrate a hell of a lot? I thought I had more, so if I remember I will just add on later. Thanks in advance!

A truck box worked well for me.

its not worth it at all.. the stock sub box is useless from what I have been hearing. Plus you can;t get a aftermarket sub into the enclosure if you want to swap it out if you don;t like it or you blow it up.... Like I would have LOL. I will upload my pics of my newest mod in my car car I sunk my sub into the spare tire space in my hatch. looks great but i will have to mod it slightly to make it sound better and better reseal it and tinker so.....

I'm willing to sacrafice sound for space... I'm actually pretty happy with the sound, but then again... I don't crank it. My biggest complaint is that the 6 disc doesn't have MP3 capability, but the single disc does.... 1 MP3 disk can hold about as many songs as my 6 discs... so the 6 disc is almost useless.

Aftermarket is 99% of the time better than stock... Go for the one without... if you REALLY want the side panel enclosure, find one in a junk yeard and swap it in... but the factory speakers are junk, the factory amp is junk and the HU, follows suit..

I would agree with you... especially if I can save $1000... and put that into a A.F. setup... But I got to say it sounds better than any of my previous car's stock setup's I replaced all the speaker's in my civic with Infinity reference, new HU, and 4-channel amp... later a mono amp to power 2 12's... car previous to that was MB Quart / Percsion Power 12... car previous to that Pioneer premier w/ 2-12 Kicker Solo baric's... I just can't justify spending all that money again for stereo stuff in my car that I only put 9,000 miles on in 13 months...

well turns out both cars have the monsoon, so looks like im stuck with it initially, oh well. i plan on using my old kicker 12 an my 2 amps and purchasing some mb quartz for the speakers. since i dont have the car yet, what exactly am i going to need? is 6 1/4 what the monsoon uses? and only the fronts have tweeters right?i didnt plan buying a new HU since the factory seems to be pretty integrated with car functions. atleast in the G6 i drove it was, it had the tire psi, fuel left, etc readout right on the HU. plus i just like the look of it. that being said, does it have good EQ an **** to tune the sub an **** with, or do i reallllllllly need to get a new HU? and if I do, are there some that will connect or whatever so that all the factory read out **** will still come through?

Our HU's do not display all that information other GM cars do so replacing the HU will not effect any of these functions.

Has anyone upgraded the Monsoon, replacing the mid range and tweeters in the doors with something more efficient. Is it possible to run a little extra power through the system somehow? Just wondering.

I upgraded everything ...stock is so last year LOL mine was a moon & tunes package no sub but the 6disc, amp under the seat jobby. So my I fabricated a sweet enclosure in 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon...I didn't want to lose my functionality of being a large hatchback...I will just throw these on for now I will post all of them with install instructions if you would like later on once we complete it. We just have to get to a shop that has carpet in stock at a decent price and colour that I like. hope you like it...criticism is welcome for "tweeking" purposes...If you would like install help or tips PM me & I can let you know what we learned in our mods.this first one is just showing the black plastic thingy that covers the spare with "storage" compartments with the sub sealed and mounted in the hole.second one is showing the cover board that replaced the plastic factory top with the rails. Also my amps are mounted to another piece of MDF that we will be covering and mounting to the rails in the back of the seats.....
