Hi everyone. I am new to the boards here and what better way to itroduce myself than with a problem I am having, right? I have a 2003 Vibe and have recently attempted to install a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT in-dash GPS/DVD system and ran across a few questions.1. The wiring harnesses are all matched up correctly but I get no Audio. This is the one that's freakin me out. Is there some kind of security feature I'm not aware of or soem kind of special concerns when installing aftermarket items into an 03?2. On the back of my stereo there is an extra wiring harness with only 1 wire attaced. Anyone know what this is for and what I do with it on an aftermarket?and 3. I am looking for a wiring diagram that can show me where to find the speed signal input (VSS - I think.) Its the wire that tells the speedometer how fast youre going. I found a site that verbally said where it was .. but when i got to the car, I couldn't follow it.I have searched high and low for these answers and will GREATLYappreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks a ton!!~Donnie~

As for the lack of audio problem, I'd suggest checking your wiring over again. I had no problems when installing my head unit. But I don't have a GPS unit, so I couldn't really tell you what kind of difference there may be with that.As for the connector with the single wire, just ignore it. It's basically nothing. I can't remember exactly what the wire is for (I'm sure someone can chime in and inform us), but it serves no purpose with your aftermarket unit. Just tape it off and tuck it away.Question that will be asked.... do you have Sun&Sounds/Moon&Tunes package on your Vibe?

Thanks so far guys .. Problem #1 .. Resolved .. I do have the Moon & Tunes Package, and didn't realize that it included an exterrior amp that i was going to need to wire... But now a new issue has arisen .. I have theaudio .. but my right front speaker has no bass .. It sounds like the pos. and neg. were mixed up or that one or the other was missing .. so I went back and double checked that wiring and even tried swapping the way i had it in the event my harness was wired up incorrectly .. still no dice .. any thoughts??

The harness I used was a Scosche GM035... It was an odd harness, had a 24 and a 32 pin plug on it both, they were wired together, I am assuming so they would fit a wider renage of vehicles. The colors on the harness matched the colors of the wires on the harness for the stereo though, I didn't have to cross-match anything.

Pull the harnees plug and look and see if maybe one of the pins got bent out of the way... that is sometimes an issue.. Was it just the one speaker that had no bas or both fronts that seemed to have no bass?? Sometimes they can inadvertently get wires out of phase and that can kill the bass... use the balence control and move it to the left or right, as soon as you get off center, does it seem to come back or no?? If so, you are out of phase and just need to swap +/- on one side to get back in phase..

Only the front right speaker is goofy. I think to troubleshoot it .. I am going to try running it without each the - and the + wires and see under which configuration there is no sound at all through the speaker, I'll then know if i am deal with a problem in the + or -. I just dont wanna rip apart my dash again, but i guess it is a necessary evil. Thanks for all the help here guys!!Anyone have any ideas on that 3rd question though?? on the spedometer input?

After some extensive troubleshooting I hae found that the problem in my speaker is not my fault at all. Its something in the vehicle wiring after the head unit. I found this out by going back and reinstalling the factory unit only to find the same problem. Now my assumption is that its an issue with that amp under the seat. Maybe its been kicked one too many times or something. Unfortunately, I have ZERO experience with amps... I have never had a sound system in any vehicle I have ever owned. So, now I am wondering if anyone out there can provide me any guidance on troubleshooting the factory amp in the '03 with M&T. THANKS!!

I would consider pulling the door panel and removing the speaker, and trying something else, anything will do... OR, if you knew the wire colors comming out of the amp, you could test from there, without removing the door panel... the factory speakers aren't great buy any strech of the imagination..

How would I go about testing that speaker in the door if i remove the door panel? And, How is the door fastened? I remember in my truck, two screws and it practically fell off but this door wasnt so easy when i tried removing it today...If it is a speaker, I'll probably just pull the trigger and replace all 4 ... or at least the front two with some pioneers...Thoughts?

the tweater cover just pulls off independent of the doorTo take the door cover offpry up the window controls starting at the bottom. unplug themonce you have that outtake the screw out of the door handle cupThen there is a small screw just under a plastic cover next to the handlethen the rest of the door cover just pops off.. start at the bottom and work your way around the edges up to the toponce all the door clips are popped tilt the panel up and it will come out from the window track. The bad part is the speakers are rivoted in so you will need to drill out the rivots to get the speaker out.

I thought only the rears were riveted?? But, like I said, you "could" test a different speaker AT the amp, if you know what the wire colors going to THAT door are... you would simply snip the wire, and hook a different speaker to the wires comming out of the amp... then you simply splice them back together when finished.. this is easy if you pull the passenger seat to..!!! 4 bolts and a connector...

Hey Thanks for all the advice. I think I have an old speaker from my truck here somewhere, I would much rather test at the amp first, so that I dont have to deal with rivets :-[ ..AND .. I found the VSS.. If anyone else out there is looking for it .. theres a panel under the glove box with two plastic pegs in it. Pry out the pegs and fold the flap down. There will be 4 plugs .. The VSS (Speed input) is the purple and white wire on the 2nd plug...

Out of curiosity, why do you need the VSS? DVD player? Speed responsive volume?
