Hello, I just signed up with the genvibe forum today. I would like to add a very postive comment regarding the cabin filters and their prices. When I purchased our Vibe last April I checked out where and how to remove the cabin air filter. After much searching on this forum I found many people not willing to fork out $30.00 and up (dramatically). Well, I did some research and found a replacement for much less. I ordered three of them on a gamble. Received them today.....ok here it is. I paid $3.62 each. Yes that is correct. The three of them cost me $20.48. They were shipped in a heavy duty USPS Priority Mail carton. These are the same size, same amount of louvers or folds and (it seems) material. I ordered them on the 3rd. of September and rec'd them on the 5th. Pretty good since I live in a very rural area. I didn't even know I had a cabin filter til I read about it last winter here on GenVibe. I paid too much and got one at the Napa store in town. I need to get another one so I just went online and ordered 3 for my Vibe too. Their website was easy to use. Thanks for saving me some money $. Do post some pictures of your Vibe in the GenVibe garage when you can.

Wow! Great deal. Based on some previous comments in the forum, I ordered cabin filters from some outfit in Canada this summer. Paid about $15 as I recall. It was for a 2006 Vibe, and I'm not sure if the 2007 is different, but I'll check it out. Nice find!

Have you had a chance to install one yet? I notice the part number is "TOTAFCAU". "Tota" could mean Toyota, and the 03-08 Vibe and Matrix air filters are different.

I purchased them and they are a perfect fit in my 2007 Vibe. They are the exact dimensions as the original factory one I replaced.Ojibway Princess

WOW Great find!!I have a new one stored away someplace. and when that is gone I'll have to order from there.THough it would be nice to find one with the activated carbon in it to reduce odors.

YES i can confirm that the matrix and vibe filters are different sizes. the vibe filter is a tad smaller than the matrix filter. Although it's nothing a pair of good sissors wouldn't fix.of you can do like i did a few years ago and just squish it in there LOL

That is a great price, I paid around $28.00 a few years back at a local Pontiac Dealer.

I just want to THANK Ojubway Priness for this logical source for Cabin Air Filters. I bought 2 each for my Vibe and Beetle and they fit perfectly. I can't believe these filters get so filthy after a few years. Thanks again.

Just a follow up: I ordered three of these on 10/01, got them 10/03 (Utah to Washington) and here are some photos of what they look like.PS: The manufacturer is "TYC" and the product is made in Taiwan; the same part # is in fact listed for both the Vibe & Matrix, but they fit perfectly in my Vibe. Not bad for $3.62 a pop!

Yes, this is good info - I just ordered 3 myself from that site. With just over 15K on mine I opened up and took out the filter and it was pretty dark - in addition there were leaves and other tree related stuff. I could hear a leaf rattling inside with the blower running which is one of the reasons I took it out. Based on what I saw I will probably be changing it at least every 6 months to 1 year.The owners manual I believe says nothing about the cabin air filter. I found out it existed from the facotry service manual as well as this site. I guess there are a lot of owners around who have never changed it.

I just replaced my cabin filer with the last one i had in reserve. So I'll stock up on these and now need to figure out what to do for the engine filter. I'd like to go with a dry flow that is washable.

How often (time, mileage) do you need to replace cabin filter?

I placed my order with Logical-Source Sunday night and received it today (Wed). For about what I paid for one Purolator filter (which was for a Matrix), I got three. I don't remember how long the previous one was in there, but it was time. For the price I should have bought more...

awesome deal. the filter in mine has never been replaced so i bought a couple.someone also told me i should use some spray to get rid of potential mold and whatever else has built up in the a/c, anyone know anything about such spray?

I've heard of people using Lysol. There is a foam too, but I don't remember what it is called.

Oh, wow, what a great price on the CAF. I'm going to order some too.BG Products here in Wichita makes a A/C condensor cleaner spray. I have a friend that works there. They make the famous BG 44K fuel system cleaner and a lot of other automotive maintenance products, mosty used by shops. I'll post a pic of the can next time I'm on line.Pete

I forgot about logical-source for these filters. I did find the TYC's at rock auto for $4.51 each and bought a couple. Honestly, I don't see what justified the $35 price tag at the dealer or $30 at Pep Boys. These aren't that much different than OEM. Might be a little more on the flimsy side but that's about all I've noticed. Should work the same. Bought filters for the Hyundai from them as well, but mine ran $8 each - still half price of OEM though. And I see logical-source has mine for $4-something.Next time I'll be sure to buy from logical source for both cars and save even more dough. Might stock up on these and replace them more often since they're so cheap to replace. Sure would be good for the allergies I would imagine!

Thanks for the info. I'll buy it from them next time. I wish I had seen this sooner, I just got back from spending 20 bucks at the Toyota dealership thinking I got a great deal as compared to what they charge at the Pontiac dealership for a Vibe cabin filter. For some strange reason, even though the Vibe and Matrix are pretty much the same, they have different cabin filters. But oddly enough the cabin filter made for a Tacoma is the same one that fits a Vibe 03-08. I'm the second owner, by the look of the old filter, I doubt it was ever changed. The previous filter, as you can see below, was filthy, all kinds of bugs and cat hair in it.

Haha.. After my experience with the filthy cabin filter I've been telling all my friends to check their cabin filter. I can't believe all the people that I talk to that never knew they had a cabin filter. With your Vibe only being a year old you should be OK. It should still look good, you could probably get away with just vacuuming out the one you have.

I just changed mine and my mom's at about 15,000 miles (we're both just over 17,000 now). They were dirty, but nowhere near as bad as the one rmlmt posted . Both our Vibes are parked in the garage at home though, so that probably makes a difference compared to one that's parked outside all the time. But yeah, if you take it out and check it every so often it shouldn't get that bad.

I'd be careful if I were you with taking out your cabin filter too frequently to clean it. I'm not sure if your Vibe cabin air box is the same as my 04 is, but I noticed when I took mine out to replace, the little plastic door you have to open to gain access to the cabin filter is just held on with a plastic hinge. It's bound to break off if you open and close it too much. I already noticed mine is looking like it's ready to break off because I kept opening and closing it too much being the neurotic car owner that I am...haha I'm gonna resist the urge to check the cabin filter too frequently and only open it once to change out the cabin filter and forget about it for another 15k before I open it again. It will be hard for me but the thought of having that hinge break off and the possible cost of getting it fixed will keep me from messing with it too often.

I had 3 of these cabin filters in my cart at the Logical-Source.com website. I had all my info filled in and was just about to push the "Order" button when I realized Canada Post was on strike. How would these even get me? I guess i'll have to hold off until the strike is settled. Damn greedy postal workers...

Finally got around to ordering 3 of these from Logical-Source. I guess i'll see how quick shipping to Ontario will be.

Yeah... I just took my Vibe to the shop for maintenance and an oil change. The mechanic said he replaced the cabin air filter but had to tape it in place because the door was gone. (he looked confused) Must of broke off before I owned it!
