RANT about new scratches

I am really annoyed that some jerk would run his key down the side of my car. I think I would have seriously hurt the jerk if I had caught him. :-(It's bad enough that a run away grocery cart ran into the other side. It didn't leave a dent or scratch. I was able to rub the residue off, it was like the consistency of dried rubber cement whatever it was.You can't see the front part of the scratches, but the scratch on the left rear fender shows more than the picture reveals. Why can't people leave other peoples cars alone!!!!!!

i agree, it's sad that people do that kind of thing to other people's cars... although some of those just might buff out (can't really tell from the pics) i really good wax job might help out a lot.

I doubt the one on the rear fender will buff out. It's all the way down to the primer. It's hard to get pictures that show them properly.

that sucks...karma will get that jerk.actually sometimes it might not be someone doing it on purpose...on my previous car i was parked next to a van and this lady was putting stuff in her trunk while her little boy was drawing circles on my door...my car was pretty dirty and so it left some marks on it...i guess it's still vandalism tho lol

Insurance company has my claim. They called me today and will be out tomorrow to assess and take pictures.Next step is getting it in to the shop. I wasn't even aware my policy covers the rental car costs also.

Hey I'd look into how many claims you can make before the insurance company raises your premium for the year.Might work different down there but here they want you to make claims. It might work out better for you (cost wise) to go at on your own.

Yeah good idea to check with your insurance so they don't raise premiums. What a bummer to find those scratches. I found a small dent on my driver side front and have no idea who did it nor what it would cost to fix. I wish the new Vibes came with a built-in security camera so you could prove who did it and take their car away for at least a year.

I wish you were here in Oregon. The shop just quoted $1079 to fix it.

What is an ouch are the jerks at the insurance company are only going to pay $277.90 even though that will leave more than my deductable for me to pay.I will probably take the money, tell the body shop to get lost and do this myself. It the estimate, they are talking about removing body panels, the rear door glass and the little window behind that and the left tail light assembly and replacing some drip molding. All this just to fix a scratch.Avoid Progressive insurance like the plague.
