Hey I just got half of my suspension done, yes only half(it's a long drawn out story), and was wondering if it was absolutely necessary to cut the springs.Because I didn't realize that they might need to be cut until today, the day after, when I was reading how-to.I will make sure I cut the front ones, or should I if haven't cut the back ones?Help.

what? you cut your springs instead of using lowering springs? Or do you mean you forgot to cut your bumpstops?Well if you mean bumpstops then yea you could have a problem. You need to alow the strut/shock to travel more and with out cutting the bumpstop you will be hitting it.You should go back and cut the bumpstops.Deff cut the front ones if you haven't torn in to those yet.

DO NOT, cut the springs... If you meant bumpstops like Keith said, that's fine... But cutting springs is a big no no...

Yeah,I believe that is what I am talk about. So I should take the rear ones out and cut them? or are they going to be ok to leave? I haven't put the front ones in yet, so I will definitely cut those.

do you have awd or are you 2wd?if your 2wd should take too long to do that. If your awd it will take a tad longer to get it sorted out but yes you really should cut your bump stops

Quote, originally posted by WagonMafia »What will happen if you don't cut the bump stopsYou will not alow the strut to move more to compensate for the lowered spring stance. So you will have a very good possibliy that you will bottom out on the strut hitting the uncut bumpstop. possibly causing damage to the strut and car.
