Almost a 3 Vibe family

Post by ClunkClunk »

My sister's been driving a 1996 Olds Eighty Eight with 115k on the clock for quite some time, so my dad's been keeping an eye out for a replacement car for her. He managed to get a 2003 Abyss Vibe with a damaged tranny for very cheap, and is having a used tranny put in. The tranny is still on it's way from MN, so it'll still be some time until it's complete, but things are looking like that this Vibe will be the third in our family. My dad hasn't told my sister, in part because it's not complete and ready, but also because he wants to surprise her a bit.My girlfriend has had her 07 since June of last year, and my dad has had his 06 since September of last year, so with the addition of my sister's, we'll have 3 Vibes in the family.Hopefully I'll be next :-) I'm going to prep the Regal for sale over the next few weeks and try to get it sold for some reasonable money. It's at 93k, and still in decent shape minus a few minor issues that I'm going to resolve. Hopefully I can get it sold before it hits the magic number of 100k. And of course, a Vibe is what I'm seriously considering as a replacement.

That's fun How much did he pay for the trans? I have a feeling mines gonna go one of these days just because that's my luck lol. I want a manual though when that happens.

I know the car has ~80k and the replacement trans has ~50k, so it shouldn't be too expensive.

Your gf is smart to introduce you all to the Vibe and your sister is going to be soooo surprised. Maybe Dad will surprise you too with a Vibe of your own????

I finally got to see my sister's new Vibe for a few minutes before she headed off to work. It's surprisingly similar to my girlfriend's Vibe. It's a 2003, Abyss black, AWD, AT, M&T. For an 83k 2003, the paint looks great, and only some really minor dings on the sides (parking lot dents). The interior is in good shape, minus the trunk which is pretty well scratched up.The new trans went in without a hitch and everything seems to be operating quite well on it. Overall, it's a solid upgrade from her Olds.
