local dealership ordering pattern

i've been observing my local pontiac/mazda/kia/mb dealership for awhile now and have discovered that they are only ordering 1) awd vibes...nothing else and 2) all monotone, no 2 tone anymore....the last shipment of of 2 tone vibes was in january when i bought mine.....any other version or 2 tone is now special order....i thought that was interesting also they are having a hard time moving all those protege p5's they ordered in...it seems that with gm financing deals and all, that the mazda p5 aren't moving so fast, people are buying the vibes instead here (a salesperson told me this), even before they arrive here in town..in fact the sales guy told me that there isn't one available off of the next order, they are all spoken for.

I wonder if all the AWD orders are because of your location. Do alot of people there drive AWD or 4WD?

awd/4wd is real popular here..however there are tons of other vehicles that are not awd equipped....i dont think the dealership had any luck selling the other models...i know a gt sat here for almost 6 months, they had a fire sale on it and moved it for almost $2000.00 below msrp....still i thought that they could give a choice of vehicles like the sister city of anchorage does, they sell the full line of vibes and evidently sells everyone of them. what i wonder about is the lack of 2 tone vibes being ordered? are they phasing out the 2 tone color packages?

May be GM has an AWD overflow and are trying to sold them so they ship them up north

well they could stop some of those AWD's 1/2 way, because there is 1 expected to come in at a dealership here in SK, and that's the ONLY one. No AWD's on the lot, anywhere!

Two tone; monotone: Isn't the montone when the bumpers and wheel areas are the same color as the paint - an added option? I had to get the monotone cause that's what they had but if I had my druthers I'd have saved the $300. I do admit on my Neptune it is a nicer look - on some colros I think the two tone actually looks better. Bottom line, if they are selling like hotcakes maybe the dealer likes to order them in a bit more loaded to make the extra bucks.

Around here, monotones are extremely rare, as well as AWD. The dealer closest to my house now has a half dozen VIBES sitting on the lot, all tootones. Maybe the dumba s s should try a monotone and see what happens. The dealers are gutless. (P.S 2Tone is at least a 700 dollar option up here)

I would hope that Alaska would get the majority of AWD sales. I personally have never liked the two-tone color and think that they probably would have sold even more Vibes if they were all monotones.-Slink

Same here in Ohio. I like the rather clean look of the mono color -Slink

I personally dislike the monotone but for certain colors. Plus, the mono is $300 more.Sounds like that dealer is trying to boost his profits by "forcing" buyers to get a $300 option...it sounds like he assume people will not wait for an order, and will buy off the lot, like more people than not do these days...But of course, this is idle speculation.
