I can't speak for the '09 model, but my '08 with the Monsoon system has MP3 capabilities, and I've burned a CD that works great. The display shows the file name for each mp3, and I've got it set to randomly shuffle songs.I don't know the answer your question about CD-RW, sorry.

Yes, mine displays title and the artists. I make sure my mp3`s have ID3 tags on them and record playlists with an .m3u or.wpl extension. I do not have any CDR-RW`s so not sure on that one, but the owners manual only talks of CDR-R.

I`m real happy with the GT, it is a big step up from my 07 Vibe. I like the extra power and the better handling, not to mention all of the extra things the 07 did not have like telescoping steering wheel, plastic lensed fog lights, safety stuff ext. Cons, but not real big ones would be the accessory plug is located in a tuff spot for me, eyeglass holder could be larger to like hold glasses that are in a case, and I would make the center console bigger, like in previous Vibes.

Ahhhh!! RRRRRRRG!!! Wish I waited for a few months to get my Vibe. Got my 07 Vibe too soon since I needed a 4-door to replace my Civic coupe to take my my new born places. Now I am drooling over the new 09 GT!!!!!!! Or I should have gotten the 4-door VW GTI. Have always loved hatchbacks!!!

I have an 09 GT and it reads ID3 tags on MP3 CDs. However, many of my files that have ID3 tags that work fine in the Alpine deck in my truck, don't work properly in the Vibe. The files play fine, but the ID3 info comes up as gibberish on the display.

I do notice if my tags are to long the deck will shorten some of the information, I think anything over 39 characters will mess it up, or cause it to be shortened. I haven`t seen what you have seen as far as gibberish, but maybe I will as I burn a few more CD`s.

Yak , that didn`t take long! I see what you are seeing on some mp3`s. I reburned some mp3`s to wave then back to mp3, and it corrected the info. and I lost the gibberish,it may won`t work on all of the mp3`s. Why your deck picks up the info, and not the GT`s ?

I get my Vibe GT Thursday. Im so sick of waiting! But I was wondering if its worth buying an aftermarket stereo system for the Vibe? Is the Monsoon pretty good quality?

The Monsoon is a great factory installed stereo. I have it in my 09 GT Vibe.I tend to use my IPOD more than the mp3 CDs right now. But it does play mp3 cds fine. I've been real happy with the car so far. I've had mine since June 2008.
