hvac control unit

when i turn on fan, i have to turn to highest setting in order for it towork ithink control unit is bad and if it is where can i get one

Welcome! There have been several reports of this, the blower motor resistor is likely the cause. Check this thread for more information.

ColonelPanic is most likely right...The motor defaults to high as a safety feature so the driver at least has some kind of fan in order to still drive the car. High is full 12 volts power to the motor where the resistor cuts the voltage down for the lower speeds.
