I'll get a set of mud-flap and I'm wondering if I can paint them to fit my monotone Vibe?I was thing about going to a paint shop and getting the same paint and my Vibe then paint mud-flap and add 2-3 clear coat to protect.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I like them on my monotone. Besides, they will get all scratched and dinged up anyway. They became the lowest point on my Vibe, so when I enter a steep driveway or go up or down a steep hill that suddenly flattens out, they scrape the ground. So I wouldn't bother painting mine.

I am going to agree with Stang as well and say don't bother. Mine have become scraped up from different road conditions and have some road tar on the inside that I feel wouldn't blend in as well with a painted mudflap.Now, I would like to see them painted maybe Abyss or Neptune (only because they are darker colors), but anything else may more visibly show the road scars.If you are willing to paint yours, go for it.. I would like to see some pics if you do!

Actually, I would think that if you painted them a darker color and they got scratched and scraped it would look even funkier because then the grey plastic would be showing through again. You could get away with it probably with Satellite or Shadow colors, but they are already similar enough to the mudflap color that painting them would't be necessary anyway.

Good point. Being painted would require double the maintenance of the non-painted mudflaps. You would have to touch them up periodically if they are scratched. Ultimately, the best route here would have been if the mudflaps were available to match your cladding from the factory (ie. the plastic itself was actually colored to match, rather than being painted).I'll still agree with you though, I like the mudflaps on my monotone.. I hardly notice them anymore and they are doing a great service to the lower portion of the vehicle.

Finally, I think I'll install them unpainted and see how it looks.Anyway, I have hard time to get touch up paint for my car, so I think it will be even harder to find a spray can of the same color.

I ordered spray paint from Sherwin-Williams and a clear.My mud-flap will be painted next week and I'll give you some pics.

Did anyone attempt to paint the plastic bumpers in two tone Vibe?

I suggest you try and find a place that will spray them with bed-liner (rhino?) stuff. I saw a segment on some TV show where they pointed out it can be gotten in many different colors. And they use it for all sorts of things, including sealing concrete walls while making them considerably stronger.You could probably get close to your car's color, and have something more durable than paint.Just an idea.KSNeptune
