Decisions--decisions

Have a decision to make shortly. I have a base model 06, with 30k miles. I really like it. Dailey driver and some trips in it. With the factory warranty almost out, I am either going to buy an extended major guard from GM, or trade it in on an 09 GT. My wife and I like the GT we have been looking at. What are the pro's and con's between what I have and a GT? Will the floor mats from an 06 fit the 09? I bought a "custom" set and would like to switch them if I trade.

If you can, go for the '09 GT. I doubt that your custom floor mats will be a perfect fit on the '09. You may still be able to use them with some tweaking. But, don't let floor mats prevent you from upgrading to a newer faster model witha better warranty.

Your worried about floor mats you will not even know there in the car when you get to experince some lift! from the GT model!

Mine is an '06 with no extended warranty. I know the warranty is almost up, but I'm not the least bit worried about it

i'm sure your car will last a long time and won't have any major problems. from my research the vibe has been pretty reliable and there's no major problems with them. but of course if you can, get the 2009 vibe gt. from what i've read from owners who went from the previous gen vibe to the new vibe has been very happy with it. it's a more refined car and is quieter/smoother. plus the gt will have more power than your base model that you currently have. mpg w/ the 09 gt will probably not be as good as the 1.8 you have now but it's still a good engine and good gas mileage. good luck with your decision.

Shadow dog, Hmmm keep the 06 that you are happy with or get a sportier 09 GT? Could you add a spoiler, new rims or a pinstripe, etc to the 06 exterior? Why let the expiration of the warranty force you to make a change - or are you leasing? What is the cost of extending warranty vs. the actual costs to maintain a Vibe? The Corolla engine in your 06 Vibe is reliable and won't be expensive to maintain if you keep up the maintenance and if you go without warranty like me.Also consider how much will your car payment, insurance and taxes increase if you get the new 09? Do you and the Wife have any other financial goals like a house, travel, college to save towards?I don't mean to discourage you, I'm just offering another perspective. If you can afford the new 09 GT - go for it. If the 06 custom mats don't fit you could take a picture of them and sell them on GenVibe or Ebay and use the money towards new custom mats that fit the 09. Best wishes on your decision.

Keeping a car 8-10 years is the best financial decision. Buying a new car every 3 years is an emotional decision. Think of the financial implications first.

It would have been nice to get the GT but it would have also added another couple years of car payments

A warranty from GM is going to be $20,000+ cheaper than a new car. And well worth it if something happens. The 09's are nice but no car payment would be nicer. I wish I would have kept cars long enough to pay 'em off, as it stands now I'm still paying on cars I had in high school.

Keep your car and forget about the warranty unless it is really cheap.
