got the wires correct but there is no sound. I have an '04 vibe. the auto place made some calls and everyone thinks that he is crazy and don't believe that there is no sound. he thinks he will have to test each factory wire to find it, any suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken the radios changed from 03-04 to 05+. Be sure you are using the right harness for the model of the car.

The radios have evolved over the years, but the pinouts for 03 - 08 are the same for VIbes. I don't know about the 09's.The Matrix radios changed radically in 05Is the car a basic system, or does the car have the Moon&Tunes package?

Does it turn on? Change the ground and see if it fixes your situation.

Also, a lot of aftermarket heads let you turn on/off the internal amplifier in the event you are sending the signal to an external amp. Check for that, too

More info is needed, we are just speculating.. Like Joatmon stated, did it have either of the "preium" audio systems in it? You say auto place... What KIND of auto place, was it an install shop or just some muffler shop...lol... If it was an actual install shop, I would RUN, not walk away from that place, if they couldn't get the install correct... they should know, or have the ability to find out all the info needed to get the job done... was the stereo NEW or USED?? What kind of stereo, and what model #... ? It is quite possible that one or more of the speakers is blown, and/or possibly shorted... not very probable though... answer some questions and possibly get some answers..

I got the same problem.I got a wire hardness installed and connected all color coded wired A1.The radio turns on, off and able to tune to FM no problem (since there's a status light for FM tuning).I reconnected the old radio and the music was back.I think there's an amp (looking under driver seat).I've attached the wiring diagram on the radio with amp in case someone could help me.There's 2 sets of wire hardness for the OEM radio. I'm not sure what is the second one for.I'll post soem pics tomorow.Cheers

If you have the Moon & Tunes package, it sounds like you might not have power to the amp turn-on lead. As a result, the radio will turn on but you won't get any sound since the external amp will still be off. Check this thread for help with this.
