03 GT - A couple of clutch questions

Hi all,I recently bought an 03 GT with 55k miles and as far as we can tell original clutch. I test drove the snot out of the car and had zero issues with clutch slippage etc so I went ahead and bought it. Now after 8 weeks and 7500 miles, I have noticed that there is a slight grinding noise, more audible in lower gears and at lower speeds. The noise disappears when the clutch pedal is pressed. The noise seems to come from the drivers side of the engine block - maybe halfway down. Just wondering if it is anything I should be really worried about and if there is any quick fix I can perform myself. The clutch still seems strong, shifting is fine and there is no slippage. One other thing I have been kind of worried about is the clutch pedal pressure. It seems a lot heavier than any other car I have driven. Is this normal? I.e. it seems to take a lot more pressure to press in the pedal than I am used to. Is this just a characteristic of a hydraulic clutch or may I have some underlying problems? Thanks for any helpPaul

the stock clutch on the GT sucks. simple as that. yes, you have to practically STAND on it to engage and they don't really last too long. I highly recommend looking into an aftermarket/better clutch.

Sounds like a throughout bearing prob.

thanks for the responses. So should I be really worried now and take her in for a new clutch or is it something that can be fixed by itself?

I would agree with Hope and go with an aftermarket clutch. Get it done sooner than later before a problem surfaces

Have 133,00 on my 03 GT clutch and still probably have another 10,000 in it left! Its allin how yo udrive them and use the clutch if you bought it used someone wore the hell out of itI bought mine new and only me from day one has driven it these cars dont have much torque so you have to rev the car soem to get the momentum going but thats all you cant ride it like a truck to take off.
