2009 Air conditioning glitch

Recently, I had an absolutely bizarre air conditioning glitch with my 2009 Vibe that went all the way to the Pontiac engineers to fix, so they now know how to do it. If anyone else is experiencing this, it can be fixed. Here's what you'll experience: you turn the car on after it's been sitting 3-4 hours or more. The air comes on, and then in exactly 2 minutes, the cool air stops and the fan continues to blow in unairconditioned air for exactly two minutes, then the air comes back on. I know, sounds bizarre, but my air conditioner tech at the dealership replicated it and said it happens just like I explained. He even timed it. Anyway, he couldn't figure it out, but stuck with it and kept bugging Pontiac. Finally, one of the engineers tore his Vibe apart (evidently, he had one at his facility for just this purpose) and found out there is some glitch in a mod or something (I'm not a techie.) Anyway, my guy also said the diagrams on this particular system either don't exist or are not accurate, so he was really finding his way on this one. How you build a car with this lack of knowledge is a mystery to me, but I don't think mine is the only one that will have this issue.

Crazy stuff.. Toyota has all the design details, so maybe they won't share it with GM so GM has to reverse engineer everything to figure out what makes it tick. LOL!With their findings from your car, perhaps they'll get it figured out and issue a TSB for future repairs/corrections for others.

Thanks, y'all. I was actually one of the first members on this site waaaay back in the day when the Vibe first came out. At that time, I really liked the styling/hauling capacity, but traded it after a few months because I felt it was underpowered. Most recently, I had a Solstice GXP 2008, which I traded in at 5000 miles because of the brake module issue that Pontiac refused to acknowledge, do anything about, and then began threatening dealers not to write up service tickets on. The day I had no brakes in the parking lot and almost backed into a co-worker was the day that little beast went back to the dealer, who bought it back for what we paid. They have since found a fix, which seems to have solved the problem, but not before I started talking about organizing a class action suit on the Solstice forum and several (17 when last I looked) of us made complaints to feds. This is Pontiac's last chance with me and so far, I'm not real impressed. See my post under 2009 Deathmobile.....

Gosh, I don't remember what my GenVibe ID was--that's the great thing about being middle aged -- every day is a new surprise because you can't remember anything anymore.....
