Scratched!

My wife parks our car underground and the other day she was pulling out of the spot and decided she would drive thru it instead and she ran the right rear side of the car along a pole. The car doesn’t even have 2000k on it yet. Luckily the damage was very minor scratches to the plastic trim over the wheel well. The repair only cost $200 of her money .But when I went and looked at the car after I got it back I could still see scratches under the clear coat. It seems that the body shop did not sand the plastic enough before painting the cladding. I mean you could hardly see the scratches, but for $200 bucks and the repair was done at the dealership I expected to see perfection. So I took it back this morning and showed the body shop manager the scratches and it is being repaired as I type this. I hope for their sake they do it right this time.Oh yeah and one more thing, I went to the parts counter to get some touchup paint for a small chip in the rocker panel on the drivers side and the guy said that they don't have touchup paint for my colour yet (Shadow). I said to him that my brother in law was able to get some for his Frosty and he replied with "white is a pretty easy colour to match, yours is a little harder". Not the answer I was looking for. I can't believe that they have all these different colour vibes out there and no touchup paint for them. As I have heard in other posts on this forum, I find the GM people a little retarded when it comes to knowledge about the vibe. He didn't even know where the paint code sticker was on my car for the colour (I know now it's in the glove box). Pretty scary if you ask me.Anyway the body shop guy is going to give me the left over paint from the repair that he should have done right in the first place. Sorry for the long post!

Metallic Silver (Satellite, exactly what I have) is the hardest color to match (which is why my SLP hood is still at the body shop 3 weeks after I dropped it off). The part number to order for your Shadow touchup paint should be: 15U/WA914K (check the sticker on the inside of the glove box door to be sure). If your dealership can't/won't order it, go here:http://www.paintscratch.comSilver Metallic Clearcoat (Satellite) = 13U/WA891K Medium Gray Metallic Clearcoat (Shadow) = 15U/WA914K Black Pearl Metallic Clearcoat (Abyss) = 19U/WA546G Super White Clearcoat (Frosty) = 40U/WA9737 Red Pri Metallic Clearcoat (Salsa) = 44U/WA721H Sublime Green Metallic Clearcoat (Envy) = 46U/WA915K Dark Blue Metallic Clearcoat (Neptune) = 62U/WA916K Bright Red Clearcoat (Lava) = 81U/WA917K

LOL! I did get my touchup paint from the local Pontiac dealer but I forget how much it was (I'll check the receipt when I get home). Touchup paint from PaintScratch.com starts at about $15. You can even buy touchup paint pens!Pricing: http://paintscratch.com/pricing.htm

I just got back from the dealership and the job they did was a lot better, but I can still see imperfections in the clearcoat but I'm not that picky. I know it sounds otherwise. The guy at the bodyshop did give me the rest of the paint though. The bottle is about the size of the 4th one in from the left in Nova's pic. And he didn't charge me anything for it so I should be happy.

From what I am told, metallic golds and silvers are some of the hardest paint colors to match. I takes a talented and experienced bodyman/woman to get a good match. Tint and blend for those colors must be hell.
