What is your specific sub? Do you have 2 subs or one? If you only have one then you can use a mono amp OR you'll bridge the amp and get more power. Also, remember that it isn't so much about watts as it is about sound quality. The better quality the amp, the better it will sound at higher volumes so going with a lower-power but higher-quality amp wil l get you better sound in the long run with a much lower risk of destroying your sub.Of course... if you're running a $20 Urban Audio subwoofer then it doesn't really matter. Edit: Here are some good amps:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...82438h ... pp...p=115

If you are after just a sub amp, this is hard to beat... Well built and solid on power... http://www.cadencestore.com/Pr...t=478

damn i wish i would have seen that before i bought mine, 700 rms @ 2ohms would be nice...a marine amp though? so in theory i can mount it on the outside of my car and it'll be ok :DSkylinedrifer: I'll be running a single infinity kappa 124.7w with it, i just need to bust out winisd to design a nice box that doesn't take up a bunch of room >_> all those amps are a bit weak for my liking, i ended up getting one that puts out 600 rms @ 2ohms...should be plenty, it also has an adjustable (and defeatable) subsonic filter, phase, low pass, gain, boost, etc. Any box ideas? I'm trying to keep it under 2 cubes...

I am in the process of building mine right now. I'm using a Pioneer 10" shallow mount sub (TS-SW251). The box I am building is designed to fit under the passenger seat. The space where the speaker mounts is approx 12 x 2 x 3 but there is a wedge-shaped piece that extends all the way back to the rear passenger seat and slopes down to the floor. For a man of 5' 10", I have it designed at the angle which seems to be most comfortable for setting one's feet so, while it takes up some foot-room, there will still be room for an average-sized man to have a seat for a spell. With the Kappa at a mounting depth of more than 5" that design is out of the question for you, unfortunately. I think your best bet is going to be to have a custom box fiberglassed for you and to have it designed to come out from one of the sides of your cargo area or to get rid of the cargo area under the bed, enclose that, and fiberglass something in there.Who needs a spare, anyway? Just make certain you have roadside assistance and a cell phone and you'll be tight. :D

I'm not a big fan of pioneer tsw's, they dont sound good at all to me, i've always liked Fi's and RE's but I dont have the money to invest in them right now, I picked up this kappa for 25 bucks (new in box) and I cant really decide if I want to even bother designing a decent sub 2 cube ported box...I might just make a 1.25^3 sealed box...I donno, I've kinda been wanting to make an exponential horn enclosure for it now that I have the room. I'm not sure I have the tools for it though

$25? No ****! For $25 I'd make it fit somewhere! That's a hell of a deal!I got my sub NIB for $40 shipped, so I can't complain. I know that there are better sounding subs but, since I am operating under the premise of having a modest soundsystem, I think that it should be OK, especially with a quality amp.Anyway, how often do you carry passengers in the back seat? You might be able to design something that sits in both the foot-wells and spans across the center of the car that would accommodate people on short trips.Another idea that was floated to me by one of the local shops was to replace my center console with a custom console where the bulk of it was a sub box. Finally, another idea I had was to design a box that fit snug against the passenger side of the cargo area. It would be sort of a box within a box, having a top, front and side facia to make it blend into the side of the car with a smaller sealed box underneath the larger box. It would have taken up some of the cargo room but left a lot of room to work with. It would't have flown for my application, tho, since I like to camp in my Vibe and putting that box in would have meant no room for my air mattress and awning.

lol, when i go camping i just pull my sub out. I've always wanted to wall the vibe, i think it would make a good spl car but that would be a total waste of space and i like to listen to things other than continuous 60hz...I'm probably just going to make something simple that can be strapped down in the trunk.
