Has anyone put a cb radio in their Vibe? I have one laying around that I've been thinking about putting in the car just for fun. I just haven't figured out yet where I will put the antenna (don't want to use a magnet mount one on or I'll scratch my Envy paint color!)."Breaker, breaker..."

I'm getting ready to put my amateur radio (ham) into the Vibe. Not sure where everything will go.I am using a mag mount antenna near the radio antenna. (It has a nice soft rubber base. Keep it clean and waxed, no scratches.) The wire is going inside the hatch door and under the passenger side taillight.

I used to run with a CB, but dont use it much anymore. If I started again I would need a new antenna as the one I had broke.

Finally have some pics of where I put my CB and the antenna (my car is really dirty right now--construction/remodeling work will do that): Here's a little speaker I got on clearance from Radio Shack since the CB's speaker is obstructed (sounds great): I used a mirror mount to attach the antenna to the roof rack and then ran a grounding wire from that to the car (I think it needs to be grounded from what I read):

This thread may be a little old but... I too want to put a cb in. I am on the road alot. Is that a Cobra LTD 29 Wx Nw St I see? What length antenna's is that and how well did it work out? I am considering a permanent ball mount on the side behind the last window. Any opinions out there?

Needless to say she refused to allow him to put it in their car. Quote, originally posted by Dino » What length antenna's is that and how well did it work out? Any opinions out there?I antenna is 3' long and has been working just fine (I bought the cheapest one so maybe the other ones work better)--though I think I need to tune it better. I fit under the drive-thus but usually not in the parking garages. The place I mounted my CB in the car is pretty convenient for me and doesn't seem to bother my passengers.

At $25 you got a great deal. You might consider a spring and quick disconnect to take care of any low clearance problems. I am looking at the firestik 3 foot firefly antenna. Is that by chance what you have? Does it flex excessivly? Any concerns running the coax in regard to setting off the airbags? Thanks.

Negatory, Rubber Duck; amateur radio is the original internet chat room. Much older than CB.
