I was doing some regular mat. on my 03 tonight and noticed there was some oil on the sparkplug thing (dont know what its called lol) I was wondering if that was normal or do I need to take it in?Its been awhile since I've been here but I'm glad to see the site is still going strong.

Depends how much oil is on your plugs, but we can't say it's "normal".It's probably your valve cover/spark plugs gasket that needs to be replace. Not a big deal, and it's pretty easy to do yourself, and don't cost an arm.

Was it on the plug (firing end)?or just in the plug well where the spark plug goes in to the block? If it was just in the well, check your valve cover gasket for leaks. If it was on the plug (fireing end) sounds like you could or do have a bad ring in the block.

unless you got an extended warranty. No it's going to be out of pocket, because you are out of warranty being your an 03.Valve cover gasket is VERY easy to change if that is the issue. should take less than 1hr start to finish. If it's on the plug... your better off getting a compression test done to see if in fact it is a ring. A good mechanic should be able to figure out if it's piston ring issue.

I noticed a while ago that some seepage is from the screws on the valve cover with the white plastic washer on it(I think there is 3 of them).Sometimes they move around and they loose their seal.Have a look.It could also be your valve cover gasket, but maybe it's an easy fix.

Its actually still under warranty (I bought the Ex War)I was wondering how easy it was if it wasn't covered ,you know how the GM dealerships are lol.I'll book it in and get them to take a look at the valve cover and the plastic washers.Wife doesn't want to do any engine related work till its out of warranty(even though I've rebiult 2 Arctic Cat snowmobile engines, and my 89 GMC pickup and there still running)lol Thanks for all the help so far.

Here a pic of what I was talkin about as you can see the oil is near the middle of the plug wire.
