New engine FINALLY in!

Only took a month, but's it's done! Also had stage 2 FI cams, valve springs and retainers installed, motor mounts, larger 380cc injectors (MWR), and the s/c and oil pan transfered. Only bad thing, stock the o-rings (from the new engine) don't fit the bigger injectors, so they were not installed. Total price for parts and labor: around $2000. My mechanic only charged me $1000 for all the work (it really helps to pay in cash!! )I took it for a little drive around town. The ECU still needs to learn and there's a break-in period forthe cams. The car idles is a little rough, but livable. Might have something to do with the engine mounts, too. My second short trip to return movies was 'normal'. But on the way home I noticed a CEL. P1349, the VVT-I selinoid, which I remember my mechanic saying something about the one in the new engine was slightly damaged (one of the 3 crimps was loose or something). So he used the one from the old engine. Gonna take it back tomarrow and see what he thinks. His attention to detail was impressive! He is the only mechanic to attach the exhaust with no leaks the first time! No other shop has ever done that before. Ussually takes 3-4 trips back and end up fixing it myself. Still need to get a good tune. Haven't heard anything back from Beyond Redline about their project Vibe. And with me being temporally out of work, I may have to take the trip to Wausau to get the Unichip tuned. It would be cheaper since i wouldn't have to buy all new equipment. Just have to pay for the tune.Glade to have my baby back, though!!

glad it's finally back on the road! And at this juncture, I would recommend just taking that trip and having the Unichip programmed for now. Running any F/I car untuned or not tuned properly leads to detonation.. and more problems. We see it all the time here.

Trying to clear up the problem with the MWR injectors. The recomended stock rubber donuts or o-rings that go around the tips are too big for the injectors. And I'm gonna see if the P1349 CEL will go away after its broken in a little more. After that's cleared up then I'll get the tune.I can't believe the deals I got for the new engine and service! $800 for the engine with only 4000 miles on it. And $1000 for all the work. All the parts, except for the new thermostat, I got with 10%-20% discounts.
