Here's a shot of the rear left passenger door. As you can see the gap near the bottom has narrowed

Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »ahh i c..well still..alot cheaper for him to fix his truck then it is to fix you're vibeTrue enough. I'm hoping the insurance company doesn't write off the car. I like my Vibe too much and I haven't driven it that much either. Just hit 75,000km a couple weeks ago. Some minor things I've noticed, the rear hatch doesn't engage all the way so I can't lock the car using the keyless remoteThe rear wiper no longer operates, nor does the rear window release.I'd like to see if I can find a way to bypass the mechanism to allow me to lock my Vibe. Anyone have any ideas?

hmm i have no clue..just lock the car manually with the key..and about the things in the hatch..im sure the wiring harness that operates all the stuff back there got pulled apart from the impact of the hit..maybe..not sure to be exact

if memory serves me correctly, there are mating contacts on the glass and the door itself. these control the door lock, wiper, glass popper, etc. what it looks like happened, based on the picture, is that your door got pushed far enough in that the glass contacts are no longer reaching the door contacts. you may be able to take some wires and jump the two sets of contacts to at least be able to lock the door?i *think* (i emphasize it's been a good while since my vibe has been around) that the contacts were on the left side of the wiper - i think just above the crease of that dent...

Quote, originally posted by wyatt89 »hahah, i mean >_>That sucks herb, kinda strange that the back glass didn't crack...hopefully insurance will take care of that Well I can't release the glass due to the pressure. I can hear it click, but it won't pop.I've made an appointment to have an estimate done. Hopefully it won't be written off. I'm willing to have a used metal bumper underneath. I'm hoping for a new bumper cover and hatch. I'm OK for keeping the mud flaps. And if the repairs are a go, I'll try to get the top and mid-gate spoilers painted and installed too.

Quote, originally posted by WaveAction »i just hope that LED 3rd brake light didnt break Well it's still intact as far as I know. Just can't get to it because the rear glass is stuckAnyways I had it in the shop for an estimate. The dealer thinks it won't be written off. Preliminary estimates $4560.63 before taxes. But since it's over $3000, the insurance company usually will try to get an independent assessment done even though the dealership I went to is an authorized body shop.Hopefully I'll know more next week.

A quick update. Insurance will cover the damages. Because I was rear ended I won't have to pay for the deductable which would have been $500However the quote for painting and installing the upper and mid-gate spoilers is close to $500 so it kinda works out. Yeah it's a bit pricey for that. But figured if they have the car anyways and was going to paint, may as well have it all done at the same time. Also had a flying chunk of cement from a cement truck nailed my bumper cover yesterday. Nice gouges by the passenger headlamp. With all the recent Vibe wrecks lately I wonder if we shouldn't have a new area specifically for these threads?

Dropped by the dealer last week on Friday to see if I could get my sunglasses as I am going on vacation this week.At the time the painting was done, including the spoilers. Looked kind of odd with the front bumper cover, door cladding and handles off. Almost looks darker but not much lighting in the shop.It should be ready by tomorrow, but I won't be home until Tuesday.

Probably another week as some parts are back ordered such as rear wiper relay, driver seat frame, front emblem and rear inlays. However I was able to snap some pics. Excuse the first shot, dirty lens in the sunlight brought out some spots. And as you can see my spoilers are now painted and installed. They had a guy in the process of polishing and waxing the exterior. They'll also detail the interior as well.

I guess it was a harder hit than I thought

I guess it was a harder hit than I thought The front bumper cover was nailed by a chunk of flying cement from a cement truck a couple weeks later. I think they removed the emblem when the refinished the cover. And yes, the seat frame was damaged in the original rear end collision. My seat was several notches back after the impact. After moving it forward, it wouldn't slide all the way back so I had them look at it.

Quote, originally posted by AKLGT »looks like it's coming along nicely though. It does look good. The rear badging is kinda off so I dropped off a photo I took awhile back so they can use it for reference. They called me today to tell me the back ordered parts are in so I imagine it shouldn't be long now.For reference here's a shot I took a few weeks before the accident: I am wondering if I shouldn't get a clear bra. I don't know if it would have saved the front bumper cover from the cement chunks, but it probably wouldn't have caused $851.00 in damage.

Doh! Just noticed this thread. Sorry about you being nailed by a sandwich truck, Herb. I guess it's better than being sandwiched by a nail truck. Ok, maybe not...lol. Your Vibe is looking good now though.
