The Janesville, WI plant is kinda close to home (like an hour). That really sucks... good thing that the assembly plant we have here in Kenosha builds smaller, fuel efficient engines (Chrysler).

It does suck, I feel bad for the workers and their families... I don't understand why GM chose to throw away a good workforce and good factories. Why not just change what they're building, convert the plants over to build something that people will buy? Ford's plant across the bridge is doing that - nobody wants Explorers anymore so they're converting the plant over to build unibody vehicles.Hummer possibly disappearing though, I couldn't be happier when I heard that news! They're an absolutely pointless vehicle. They're impractical - despite the huge size you really can't do much with them. Their sole purpose is giving people an opportunity to show the world how arrogant and inconsiderate for the environment they really are.

the closing of the plants effects me, I work at plant that makes crank and cam sporckets for GM . My line makes cam spockets for the trucks and SUVs I'm starting to feel the effects of the low sales. I had to work on another line because the orders have gone down. Good side is that the line I'm working on now makes intake and exuast came for the 09 vibes....
