I am just wanting to make sure the engines are the same for fwd and awd. From what I have read on here they are the same engine and i need to get one from an 03 or 04 due the the throttle cable. I called one yard and the guy told me they was different. just wanting to make sure before i buy. Also do I need to get one from an automatic car.Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make the removal and install easier?

The Engine's should be the same.

engine is same!Exauhst manifold all the way back is different.as is obviously the tranny and drivetrain.

Thanks for the info! When I search car-part.com there was quite a few fwd buy not may awd, so i guess if i take my exhaust manifold off mine i should be good to go.

I called one yard on a FWD engine, he told me it would not work due to the bosses on the side of the block are not drilled and tapped like they are on an AWD. Does anyone here know if this is true?

i don't know if this helps, because i haven't done a search on car-part.com, but don't forget the matrix and vibe are the same car. so if you don't find what y ou're looking for searching for the vibe, you might try expanding the search to matrix...good luck
