Factory sunroof...inny or outty?

I'm getting a sunroof installed through the dealer and I asked if it is going to be the same as the factory sunroof, he said yes...the kind that slides up over the roof of the car. I thought the factory sunroofs slid in between the headliner and the roof. So, what does the factory sunroof do? Or is that what a moonroof does? Which is better?

Hmmm...interesting. Either he's lying or just doesn't know. Those Pontiac guys don't seem to know too much about the Vibes...

Every pontiac sunroof I ever had was an external. The vibe was the only one that went into the roof. Personally, I prefer the external type. Just MHO though.

i think the external ones look more "sporty" but i love the ones that opens and goes between the headliners and the roof. looks more classy that way.i've seen those panoramic sunroof on the aura/a6 (the one with like 4 panes of glass that each slides up) is one of the ugliest i've ever seen.

It will be an external as all aftermarket roofs are nowadays. Reasong being that the stock ones all fold inside the roof because the tracks are built that way. Aftermarkets are over because they do not want to cut into the roof to setup the track system and what not. On a factory roof the motor and tracks are all installed prior to the roof panel being welded to the top frame. It's a lot harder to install all that hardware after the fact.I have never been a fan of aftermarket roofs, they leak over time, never work quite as well as a regular, plus with an open over the roof you get less open air above as it can only slide so far back. I love my Trix roof, it's huge compared to the one I had on my Civic.
