I am a new (proud) owner of a 2006 Pontiac Vibe (Base - Abyss) with only 5,700 miles at the time of purchase. The original purchase date was in 2007 so I have lots of miles and two years for the warranty on the car. I'll run out of miles before time, though!My car was recently totalled and my search for a new vehicle began. I thought I wanted/needed a small SUV as my kids and do a lot of camping, snowboarding etc and will be expanding our outdoor activities. I've always owned sedans and wanted higher clearance and more cargo room. However, gas prices just keep going up and I need say not more about that!After much research and consideration - along with much help from these forums - I decided on the Pontiac Vibe. I cannot tell you how much I've appreciated all of the information you have all posted out here. It has been a tremendous help and I sincerely thank all of you! Sweet, glad there are not duplicates. It's hard to imagine anybody's cars here being dirty. All the pics are immaculate. I can never seem to catch mine when it's clean...only take pics when we're out doing something, I guess. This one's from a little later in the day....[IMG][/IMG]

I need to clean mine too...did it last week but it already needs it again. What's "clay bar"?

Welcome and congrats! we were already ecstatic, but with our gas prices rising DAILY, we love them more each day. Frosty & Neptune are some of the best financial decisions we ever made.

glad you are happy with your vehicle...i love my vibe for the versatility that it brings with it's gas mileage. I can hardly wait to be home and driving it again. Clay bar is a process where you're using a bar of clay and a lubricant to rub across the panels of the vehicle and it cleans down into the grooves of the paint.

I LOVE it!! That is great! I see I have some hard playing to do.... And thanks to all on the clay bar tips. I read the threads and went and bought some tonight. Maybe I'll get a chance to do that this weekend. Only bad thing so far about my Vibe purchase is that my "soon to be driving" teenage boys can't wait to drive it!

I was kiddingly meaning that I was more afraid for the car than the boys! Safety was one of the many reasons I decided on the Vibe. Knowing that these guys are going to be driving and how fearless and brainless teenage boys can be, this was a good option for us. We've been really lucky so far. I've had two Malibus totalled and no injuries. The first one my oldest son stole when he was 13 and slammed it into a concrete wall. He walked away with scratches.This time I was driving my second Malibu in a parking lot and a guy slammed into me, spun me around and slammed me into a curb. Broke my axle. Luckily, the kids weren't in the car and I wasn't hurt. I'm hoping the Vibe changes my "vibe" and doesn't follow suit. I want to keep this one for a long time! But it's comforting to know that if something does happen, we will be well protected.

Heather,Welcome to the Vibedom. Yes, I was also pleased with the Vibe's safety record, cargo hauling and good looks. I like the two tone look of yours. It is also such a smooth ride I kept finding myself going faster than I realized for the first couple months!One caution, Rear visibility can be an issue since the back window is so small when you are backing up so you might want to think about adding a camera back there for your boys. Or just encourage them to park in lots so that they can pull straight out when they leave without using reverse.Here's hoping the Vibe lasts much, much longer than the Malibu.

"Two tone" - dirt!Mine's supposed to be monotone...but doesn't look that way for long! I think I've already washed it and cleaned it more than my other cars, ever. Shows I like this one a lot better. It's funny that you mentioned the rear visibility because I was just talking to my oldest son about that today. He's pretty aware of his surroundings and understands blind spots but I had to mention it and ask him to help me reinforce it with my younger one. I'm going to be such a nervous wreck when they start driving. But mostly because so many people on the road are stupid. I almost got slammed again today. Just turning onto my road and somebody wanting to turn onto the road I was coming from. I had the right of way and they started to go while I was turning on the street they were on. Luckily I was paying attention and was able to avoid them. It's that kind of thing where experience counts. However, my boys and I do talk about that kind of thing and they point out where people are not driving very well so I know they know what to watch for. We also point out when I do something stupid because we are all human.

Yay! Welcome to GenVibe! A dirty Vibe means she gets to play alot I know Pandora (my Vibe) was THRILLED the first time she got to go off-road. Granted, it was just to park for a wine festival, but she was in the dirt nonetheless Playing with your Vibe is awesome. It gets boring if you only ever use your car to go to work or groceries
