What did you pay for your 09 GT?

I really wasn't planning on liking the 09 vibe until I saw it in person...what really pulls the look together is the gt...so I have become more interested in purchasing a gt. I was just wondering the price others have paid for their gt's...and seeing if it was comparable to the quote I was given. I am hoping some new incentives come out, as currently there is nothing for the new vibe (of course, cause it is too new)....but around new york it is almost impossible to find an 08...which is crazy.MSRP- 21,940.00the only amount this one dealer could give us off was $700.....which is poor I'm not really looking to spend over 20k on a vehicle since this will be my first actual car I have to buy on my own

Hi Tracy - Saw the article they did in the Pontiac Performance magazine - I think that was you - was it? Anyway, if it was, shouldn't you get a nice discount for doing that??? Anyway, I'm down the road from you in the Syracuse area, and we are just starting to get a few GTs recently over the last few weeks. I am interested in it too, but am also in the same boat, just waiting for a factory rebate to come along. Unfortunately, if you look at the invoice vs. MSRP on sites like Edmunds, there is not a lot of wiggle room for the dealer to knock off the price and still make a profit. The one thing that has me ticked is that they are not doing loyalty rebates for GM owners on the 09s. They are doing them on the 08s. And what annoys me more is the fact they are doing the conquest rebates (only $500 but hey, it is something) on the 09s. If you don't know what a conquest rebate is, it is the exact opposite of the loyalty rebate - you are only eligible if you own a vehicle made by another manufacturer. So I am on hold right now, just waiting for some incentives to come along.... But to answer your question, I think $700 is about all the dealer can give up and still make a buck.

If your current Vibe is not causing problems, wait. Car sales are down due to the economy, it is only natural that GM would not put incentives on the brand new model, but eventually they may have to.In the meantime, look into getting a GM credit card that builds up rebate points. I have one of the original cards and in buying two Vibes it saved me $6,500 (I don't think the new cards are quite as generous).

For some reason, here in Canada, despite the nearly equal exchange rate, we are paying way more for a GT than our friends south of the border. My GT is coming in at 27000 with sunroof and freight

Iknow this started as being for the 09,but I got the 08 Vibe MSRP was 18500,but with taxes and interest it went to 21000,then my trade in was an 06 G6 V6,plus 1250 incentive and 1000 loyalty cash....The first thing I liked was even the base stereo in the Vibe is better than the G6 stereo. As this is my first new car, I am really liking it.My G6 got about 17 MPG city and maybe 25 on the road.

Yeah I saw that the incentives are only for 08's which sucks cause there are like no 08's left...There is nothing wrong with my 06....it is just the vehicle my mom is driving is almost worth scrapping, so she'll be getting my 06 and I'll be looking for the newer one.P.S.- yes that was my mugshot in the magazine hehe

I just got my GT Vibe for $19,120. We were able to use a negotiating tactic called USAA. My boyfriend and I are USAA members (the military-based bank) because both our fathers were military. USAA has deals with dealerships in the area; you spec out your car through the USAA website, it tells you what you'll pay (in our case, $0 over invoice). We used that to talk to dealers, and then told them what USAA would do for the financing on us, and we were able to walk out the door with it under invoice + the $500 Conquest (our other car is a Honda).Quote, originally posted by jimincalif »If your current Vibe is not causing problems, wait. Jim's entirely right, too--if the dealership thinks they can make a deal, especially near month-end, they may be willing to knock more off the car just to get a sale in given the state of the economy.

Find someone that can get you GMS. My granddad worked for GM forever back in the day and I am getting an '09 GT Manual will all available options for $19,345 or at least shoot for that if you are shopping for one. Remember though the "Auto" tacks on an extra "Grand"

I got my GT with the auto for just under $20,000 USD, including the Conquest rebate.

Yeah I might just have to suck it up and deal with the price (blah). I think they should do an automatic incentive like ford is doing for recent graduates (500$ off)

Glad you're considering the GT, What is the hp difference? Also is the GT awd? If so that would be sweet for NYS weather. Also if the GT has considerable performance and hp gains, then don't forget to get a manual transmission to more efficiently put that extra hp to the wheels, and not sacrifice it with an automatic.

fwd will save a little bit more on gas oppose to awd

The AWD features the same engine as the GT, but offers the option of a manual or automatic transmission. The GT comes with more trim and larger (18") wheels...

Retracted - I swore that they still kept the GT to just a stick. I guess I was wrong...

Still sounds like GT with a manual is the way to go. What is offered as far as aftermarket turbos for the 2.4?

The "trend" over the past decade has been a narrowing of the spread between invoice and MSRP.In addition to the invoice numbers you get from KBB, Edmunds etc., there is also on the invoice at least three additional items.1. Regional Advertising Assessment Fee - varies by region etc. Is about $350 or so. 2. Customer Communication Fee. This is $20 or so. I guess it is a charge to send buyers the post sale survey or maybe recall notices. Sort of like the Chinese making the family pay for the bullets they use in an execution.3. A fee for the few gallons of gasoline the car is shipped with.On an '08 I looked at in Jan. these three items ran a total of $388.The dealer does get a holdback of 3% x the MSRP not including the destination charge. Dealers are loath to bargain that away - they need it to keep the lights on.I heard once that the dealers also get a "dealer prep" fee to reimburse them for the cost of getting a car ready for sale. I do not know if that is true. This economy and the oil situation has got almost everyone nervous. I still make more than I spend but have cut back on driving and meals out. Subconsciously that is probably the reason I am still driving my '03 Vibe. I sort of feel sorry for new car dealers, but in the past when they have cried about how much I beat them down I just tell them that all I want is the best deal they are willing to give to anyone. I don't want to pay any more than the person who came in before me, or the person who came in after me.That was really the Saturn program - officially they didn't care what the dealer sold the cars for so long as they had the same price for everyone. In practice that turned out to be at MSRP. The games were played on the trade-ins.

Oh - one thing I forget to mention, and something that I think is misleading to the point of being fraudulent. Virtually all new car dealers in Ohio now charge a $250 documentary fee - the maximum amount allowed by the State of Ohio without having to disclose it in ads or ahead of time. A couple of years ago this maximum was $100.You don't see it comiong until you get the fnal paperwork - by that time 99% just give in and pay. Ohio is a crooked state - I am sure that the legislators were paid off plenty in campaign donations to increase that to $250. The Ohio legislature also maintains minimum markup laws on wine at the wholesale and retail level, and on beer at the retail level.
