Rusting Chip

I just washed my Vibe yesterday and found one of my first chips. It's on the driver side A pillar, about 1/8" square, and it looks like it's already rusting. The chip is shallow and I would have thought there would be more layers beneath it. Looking at the edge of the chip I can pretty much just see one layer. Right now I put some scotch tape over it until I get some touch-up paint. I wonder what color the lower coats are. This one is so shallow and is only about a week old, but already rusted. I'm wondering if maybe one of the undercoats is a redish/brown color? I'll be going to the dealer soon to get a warranty repair done and will ask them about it. Anyone else noticed how their chips look? Any good suggestions for a good fix, touch-up paint is usually quite noticeable. ThanksJustin

Hey there, Justin...I noticed in the pic of the wrecked Vibe for sale on e-bay, that the damage done to the vehicle revealed a brownish/rust colored "undercoat"...this is apparent where the paint has chipped or buckled, so I am *assuming* that what you are seeing is not rust...take a look at the pic to compare for yourself... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 1844139481 If this link doesn't help, then go the Vibe Lounge Forum and look under the "Injured Vibe" headline...hope this helps!
