Well......they have to order a new air filter box for my GT

I started up my car this morning and noticed a hissing sound coming from the engine. I popped the hood and started looking for a loose vaccum hose. I did indeed find one but for the life of me could not find where it was connected to. I drove over to my local dealership to see if they could find where it was supposed to go. Well...after looking at another GT, the technician found out that it was connected to the air filter box and that the plastic connector that held it to the box had broken off. The only way to re-connect the hose is to order a whole new air filter box. Should take 3-5 days to order if the part is in stock. In the mean time, he just plugged up the line with a bolt. O well....I guess it could have been worse Jim

I was thinking about that myself. I asked him if it would cause any problems plugging up that vaccum line (I mean, it was attached for a purpose ) but he said no. I was also thinking (this one is a bit of a stretch but still)....when that little plastic peice broke off, it left a tiny hole where it was attached to the filter box. Won't that hole let unfiltered air (being as it was attached after the filter in the air intake and albiet a very small amount) into the throttle body?Jim

The duct tape is a good suggestion. After they install the new airbox, will you just rip it out to put in a CAI like many of us on here?? LOL.

That would be funny. "Please fix this part so I can rip it out next week and replace it with a better one."

Actually.....I remember thinking to myself..."Hmmm maybe if I tell him I have a CAI, they could just pull out my air filter box and install IT instead" . Any how....I imagine I will eventually buy a CAI to install. Right now, I don't have the extra $200+. Add to that trying to explain WHY I would need it to my wife and well.... .
