I was considering getting the Typhoon intake for my car but I was wondering if it was worth it? IS there a noticeable performance gain or is it just a dress up item? I know that I have read that it has its difficulties in the install. Are there other intakes out there that are just as good or should I just stay with the standard K/N drop in filter? Thanks in advance!

I like mine. And you will get more benifit out of one than me since you already have the Magnaflow. I didn't think the install was bad at all. And, I got rid of my K&N drop-in for the Typhoon.

I think you'll notice more of a sound difference then performance, but it was still worth it.

I might consider selling my AFE Short Ram Intake...I bought it 2 months ago... I like it, and It's a nice piece, but I'm thinking of just staying stock for the engine mods because I'm more into getting MPG, and I find that I like to put my foot into it with the intake cause it sounds soo good. it does make a difference. Noticeable, but dont expect to be thrown back in your seat.

Love mine, wish I had installed it ages ago. Install can easily be done yourself too. I would say I have a noticeable difference as well, but nothing crazy. I would have to say the sound is awesome, and you'll probably have your foot on the floor a bit more after you get it.

Yeah i would agree, being a user of the K&N short ram. I don't have the typhoon mind you. The short ram will net you somewhere between 7 and 8 horsepower. It's not a huge difference, and there's really no "throw back" effect by just adding this. You will like the lower and louder sound though. The car will become more responsive however. At higher rpms.

It should work with any Vibe. They all use the same engine. But if you wanna get the Typhoon CAI, make sure you don't use it during the winter. Keep the stock airbox or buy the Typhoon short ram as well. The CAI will get destroyed if you leave it on through the winter. Of course thats if you live somewhere where you actually get winter. I live in New York so it gets frosty up here

Why does it get destroyed? from road salt hitting it? I live in NY as well. I wouldnt want to change them every summer/winter though. Not worth the purchase it sounds like....

Since the cold air intake is made to keep your engine insanely cool from heat, the cold weather will ultimately ruin the intake. It happens with every CAI on the market. They are made for summer usage. And the salt on the road won't help either. Get a short ram and use it for the winter. Clean it before every seasonal change (once before winter, once before summer). Basically twice a year clean it. And store the CAI till the summer, this way it won't ruin.

It's worth the purchase trust me. I would have gotten the CAI Typhoon if i kept the stock airbox, but i went with a short ram because of the winter problem.

I sell this things a lot and I always recomend everyone who gets a CAI to use a bypass valve, this valve will stop water and moisture getting into your intake system, specially in winter or rainy season because ur filter is in the bumper.Anyone knows about this company in canada that makes a cai for the base vibes?

even if you do get the bypass valve, the intake and the valve will get extremely dirty anyways in the winter and fall seasons. You'd need to buy a cleaning kit and you would have to clean it at least three times during the fall/winter months.
