Overall this is not a bad review. The Good: Versatility, price, standard safety gear, available all-wheel driveThe Bad: Pokey acceleration, clunky transmission in all-wheel drive versionThe Bottom Line: A pioneering crossover vehicle that's much improved for '09http://www.businessweek.com/li...9.htm

Article discusses '09 Vibe price advantage vs Matrix but bases that largely on historical rebates applied to the '08's. I am sure GM hopes the lower price will eliminate the need for rebates BUT I am waiting to see what happens when the economy tanks further. Writer also apparently tested only the AWD with 4 speed transmission. He "assumes" the 5 speed woudl be better. There sure are a lot of people writing marginally useful crap.

from the review:"Pontiac dealers also seem more willing to bargain on price than Toyota dealers. The '09 Vibe's average price is $19,766 after an average cash rebate of $1,577, according to the Power Information Network, compared with an average price of $20,246 for the Matrix, which is not being discounted. "Who the heck is the Power Information Network? I find it hard to believe dealers are discounting the '09 Vibe that much - I believe that would probably put it below invoice??? Is there some dealer incentive we don't know about???

I haven't driven yet, but I agree, I can't imagine it's going to be all that much different then the first gen... a little quicker with the 2.4 (the added torque will make it feel quicker than it probably really is), and maybe a bit tighter with the independent suspension on the GT.... now if they turbocharged it, then we'd have a different story!

I wouldnt upgrade from a 03-08 if you own one already to a 09 unless your 03-08 broke beyond repair. I mean there is no need to buy the new model JUST to have a new one. but i do think the 09 is going in a good direction and for a vibe its good I should go try to test drive one now.... I do hope yota brings the SC for the 2.4l it doesnt give it TONS of power, but I'm sure lots of people would get it.

We picked up our 09 Silver Vibe last night and it is great with the 1.8. Got rid of the 02 Trail Blazer. I made the mistake of putting it in her name I don't think my wife will let me use it LOL.MY 2C.

Welcome Ontario Vibe!I've noticed that in the Vibe reviews they always say it's the twin of the Matrix, but if you read a Matrix review, the Vibe is rarely mentioned.

Well that's because Pontiac wants to point out the Vibe has Toyota genes, and Toyota doesn't want to point out the better looking Vibe!
