Any idea if an '05 engine will work with an '03?

Title basically says it all, if I've got a dead '03 engine, does the '05 use the same one? I believe the '03 is a 1zz-fe maybe... sounds right anyway, can't look it up right now because I'm at work.

hmm... I don't think so. One has an electronic throttle the other doesn't and there were some other differences.

Do you mean just the placement, then probably yes. Otherwise like VforVibe implied there are differences but if you grab the 2005 controllers, it should work just fine. And of course I would make sure the engine is populated with the throttle body, alternator, and all the other pulleys. You might try to get the 05 exhaust header in case there was a change made there too from 03 to 05.

you can find any 03-04 1zz-fe engine (base vibe) from corollamatrixvibecelicamr2 spyderso you shouldnt have to much of a issue finding one.there may be SOME early 2005 vibe/trix/corolla that still use the drive by cable, but you will have to look at the throttle body to make sure

Put in a Chevy small block.

Just take out the engine, fuel tank, exhaust. Put in an electric motor, plenty of room in the back to hold the extra batteries.

The block itself will work.As North said,it comes in a variety of Toyota vehicles. You won't be able to use the intake or the throttle body off the 05 though.

It will, when I did my swap only problem I cam across was the motor mount being different & the motor having a pilot bearing locked into place (from a manual transmission). The throttle, intake comes off anyway
