so i was driving home from circuit city i just picked up a magellan maestro 3250.....and im about to pass a truck with a poppa johns pizza thing stuck to his roof when all of a sudden it comes off and hits my car.....i pulled over an he pulled over to grab his sign but when he saw me pull over he took off so i turned around and grabbed the sign that was in the road and went down to the police station.....they said they should have no problem catching him because i gave them the diescription of the truck( i didnt get his license plate #) and they have the sign too heres the outcomei know it took four months but i finally got the dent fixed......perfect timing for the epic meet next weekend!

You are veeery lucky! The roof caps should be covered. When my wife wrote off our '04 Vibe almost all the mods were covered. Tein springs, sway bar, CAI etc. You may need a receipt for them though.

That sucks, but it should be easy to find the guy. He's an idiot because that would be the financial responsibility of Papa Johns either way. Make sure you follow through on that - you shouldn't have to even pony up the deductible on your insurance to get it moving.

yea i know the police said technically its not a hit and run or anything because he didnt actually hit me so i think they were going to papa johns but if they call me back and say they havent gotten any info then im going to start calling some people at papa johns

Ouch! Sorry to hear of the damage. Can't believe he took off. I can't imagine a Pappa John's driver being too hard to track down.

Dang, Pat! Sorry to hear, bro. I have wondered how often those signs fly off. Hope it's not too much of a pain to fix.

also dont forget about those mini emergency lightbars on emergency volunteers vehicles...i used to have on on my old car...it came off once....left some nice dents in the side of my vehicle...of course it just hung on the side instead of hitting someone or something behind me cuz of the cord to plug it in...but yah...any object with magnets is bound to go flying off at some point when you get up there in MPH....

I wonder if he'll quit to try and 'hide'? What was the wost that could happen to him if the sign fell off, you get mad at Papa Johns and have them fix your car. Now here's got a hit and run on his hands. I hope it all works out... keep the receipts of everything, the roof caps, body shop bill, rental car... everything.

Keep ordering pizza's tell that guy shows up, then follow him out to his vehicle take down his info, (I'd probably take him down too) and then I'd call the police...This should all be covered under papa john's insurance as it was their fault, or at least the person driving the vehicle.Your roof caps should be covered too.

I would not use that quote with the insurance company lol.I had a similar quote from a local guy that did an ok job it looked good except 1 spot where I figure there was an air bubble in the bondo or something, and it popped leaving a small hole in the paint, I was selling the car to carmax anyway so I let it slide, but everywhere else quoted me at least a grand 2.

well i have a family friend who does body work an he actually quoted me at about 100$ less then the insurance did....i need to get the accident report and see if the police contacted papa johns and ill take it from there

It should be pretty easy to track down the driver....the Papa John's store should know who came back without a sign, regardless of what their story was. The area you were in has to be within the store's delivery area too, which narrows it down further.

heres a little update......the police are still looking into it they called a couple papa johns palce the manager from one came over to the station an said it wasnt theirs......so im about to order my CF roof caps again now and just keep all the receipts and once they come in im going to have it all fixed and just keep receipts because my roof is already rusting :/ ........they said they call me back when they get more information

i cant find the roof caps on the site i first ordered them on.......and on rksport.com the shipping is 215$??????***update*** i called them they said it was a mistake but their going to give me 10% off for having to call haha

I would contact Papa Johns Corp. office and tell them you want your vehicle fixed. The guy was working for them and it was their sign. If not take them to small claims court for the damage and you will win easy. Police may not have time to track this all down. I would hold Papa Johns resposible. If you have collision you can use your insurance and they will collect from Papa Johns to get their money back and your deductible.

How many papa johns could you possibly have in the phone book? Start visiting each location morning and night, the truck should be easy enough to spot..

Of course you're assuming he's still employed. Might be likely the boss decided to shed the driver to try to avoid problem.

And ask if there is anyone that meets the description there, because you really wanna give him what's coming to him. heheBut really, if you talk to anyone, only talk to the manager... and I wouldn't take the vibe, the dent would be a BIG give away.

That would only work if it's a corporate-owned store, which most aren't. You need to deal with the franchisee if it's not.To find the store he most likely came from, do this -- log in or create an account on PapaJohns.com, and enter a delivery address that is absolutely the closest you can get to where you were that night. That will tell you which store covers that delivery area...the one that comes up first.

Sorry for taking so long to chine in this I work for Papa Johns right now on and off with pizza places since I got in college. You are not supposed to go over 55 with the signs< what they are rated for> they can take up to 70 easy if it's not a windy day,. You would need to call all the Papa john's in the area and ask for the General Manger, tell them about the truck and the guy driving. If you can't get a answer from them, ask them where there main office is at and speak with the district manger <usually these guys will find out quickly> this will be the best way to find the driverIf it was a stolen sign <unfortunately it happens all the time. Kids see a pizza sign on a car, they grab it and run because they think it's cool> there is not alot you can do. If it was a stolen sign and the guy ran this might be a case. I seen people take signs and put them on there cars/trucks just so they can drive around without the cops looking at them. If that's the case it will be hard to get anything out of Papa Johns

Posted: Thu Apr 03, 2008 5:18 am

The only way to find out if the sign belongs to a store is if the wrote the store number on the bottom usally in a black marker. Then you can find out what location it came from.
