Poll : What car to Rent for the Wedding day?
Posted: Tue Mar 25, 2008 1:57 pm

Ever sense I was little I can remember what the newly married couple drove away in. I want to make an impression on anyone who comes to our wedding in a fun way. In recent years I've had friends get married. Some cool cars (UK 50's Rolls Royce) and some not so cool cars (97 Malibu). I don't want someone else driving and I don't want to drive the Vibe (as cool as it is). So I've decided to rent a car from one of the local Rental places. I've twiddled the choice down to 12 interesting cars. I think I have my choice, but what would you pick?

sorry, none of the above. throw in a Corvette in the vote, and there you have it.

no Corvette's, Bimmers, Mercs, or Subarus at the place in my area (Seattle area, Hertz, Enterprise, etc)

hmm... sorry, but none of those look that all exciting to me. you may be different though. no Rolls Royce? What about a Hummer? My friends left in a hummer at their wedding. was pretty cool. Mav's bro left their wedding in a Nissan turbo Z.

I didn't vote for any of them. What...no Ferrari or Lambo rentals where you are?

hehe. if you want to be memorable, find the most beater car you can. XD i would totally do that. drive away from the chapel in a pinto or a festiva. but i'm sure she would say no to that. so i went with the A4. is it sad that i had to look up images of those? i'm too used to the mid/lower range cars.btw, congrats on getting married. hope you two have a happy life together. live well!

Honestly out of that group, I don't think any of them will be that memoriable... You either need to find an old classic, or more of an exotic... I'm not a fan of the whimp-stangs (v-6) but if it's the newer style I think a convert would be more of that "classic wedding photo" look.If it were me, I wouldn't use any of them... but if I'm forced to make a choice, I'd let the soon-to-be wife decide.

I used my uncles 1994 C4 40th Anniversary Corvette! Get what you like and have fun. Do not get like a Charger or A4, get something that you normally would say hey I would love to drive one of those!

Ford Mustang V6 Convertibles (I'm guessing it's an automatic as well?) are for 16-year old girls. Borrow someones Corvette. Or if you want a convertible, borrow a really old one, like a '50s Cadillac.

i picked the mustang -- for our wedding we were debating on what to get. We save a little money and went with a 300c

We used my parents' 1957 Chevy Bel Air. It's a 4-door, but still fun to drive. My wife doesn't have fond memories of the car as it didn't have AC, and with the temp hitting 109° (with probably +90% humidity), and however many layers her dress had, I'll never hear the end of it.

Nobody saw! A Corvette for under $200 a day! That's a total steal!

I'm sure many guys have V6 auto convertible Mustangs too. Edit: And if you really can't get any of the other cars people suggested, I'd take the Escalade and then return it before someone else stole it.

The question that pops into my mind is what type of dress is she going to wear? If there is alot of train like my wifes then the smaller cars maybe out of the question and dealing with the sedans or small suv maybe in order. The boss and I ended up renting a DTS or Deville what ever they were named in 2000. Best of luck to you and the better half.

It could have been the booze or the brain damage. I would like to hand in my membership card to the man club. If it was any consolation the one that I would try to get is either a 5,6,7 Belair or Nomad.

I was going to say a Lotus Elise, there are some rentals out there. They are very difficult to get in and out of though, especially for women in skirts, dresses maybe not as much of a problem. Sure would be awesome though. It might be hard to find to rent, I heard one of the big name rental companies has rented them in the past though. I think the Corvette would be another great choice.

Ha. Her dress probably wouldn't even fit in the Elise.

I must be a party pooper. I'm getting married in August and could care less if anyone even sees us leave, let alone what we're leaving in. We'll be leaving in one of our cars - end of story. I'm worried enough about everything we're going to have to pay for without throwing a car (or limo) on top of it that we don't really need. Maybe I'd have a different opinion if we weren't paying for everything ourselves....Sorry to ruin the party.

I agree with you Scott. Two of my brothers just got married in the past 3 months and they just used their own vehicles. One was a Toyota Tundra, the other was an old late 80s Cadillac nicknamed the "Pimp Sled". From my experiences in those two weddings, no one really even really saw them drive away so I personally wouldn't bother renting. First one the left the reception early to get on the road for their honey moon. The second was a huge party wedding and the crowd just slowly dissipated until it ended. I don't even remember when the bride and groom left, we were having too much fun. If you are renting though, then I'd go with what I previously said and get a nice fun car, something more special than an average car. Other option, just save the money and do something else more fun.

I'd agree with saving the money and just using your own car... but the poll asked which car and save money and use own wasn't an option...I think of all the weddings I went to, and honestly, I can't remember any of the vehicles people drove away in, except for one... it was a big ole Bus.. The whole wedding party hopped in, they had the can's and such off the back... I really don't think it matters what you drive away in Unless its a Ferrari F40..(my favorite car)
