Ok, here is the story. Let me know what you think.Monday -Get in the car and head to work, about a mile down the road, I hear a ring tone with a click every so often in the speakers. I am listening to FM at this time. The sound went away after about a minute. The rest of day went fine. Tuesday -Went to work and the same thing happened. Just left dinner about a hour ago and it happened again. This time I decided to hit the head unit and it went away.So could it be the head unit or the amp.

were there any other drivers around you that might have a handsfree cell phone device that sends the audio to the car stereo?

hm.. if it sounds kind of like a beedep beedep beedep(yeah, writing sounds is fun) it might be the speakers going. on an 98 dodge caravan with stock speakers and aftermarket HU i semi burnt out the speakers. on the lower volumes it would occasionally make that noise, so the only thing to do was turn it up .

You can still hear the radio station clearly. But there is a constant ring tone with clicks every so often will the station is coming in. I though maybe it was the speaker at first and decided to balance and fade all of them. No matter where I put the sound, it comes out of all the speakers.

Did you have any other electronics turned on in the car that might transmit some interference (cell phone, laptop, GPS, satellite radio, IPOD, etc.)?

It sounds like that Michael Keaton movie, White Noise. Do you see ghostly faces in your TV, too? Maybe your new house was built over an ancient Nansemond Indian burial ground, and your Vibe has become a portal to the netherworld. It could happen.

I have a cell phone that I carry on me all the time and a GPS that is only on when I need it. I have had them both for a long time and this all of suddenly happened. The second time it happened I thought it was the cell phone, so I turned it off. Noise was still there.

Are you still having this problem????? Being FM it could be interferance from any where in the line of transmission of siginal, If it only happened once could have been a secret contest the station was having that you had to be awake at 3:00am to hear the details. However if it were the CD side of things I would place blame on the laser pickup unless it only happened on one disc then Id say try a new disc.AronBTW I dont hit things in anger, I found the kick does more damage and hitting women is totaly wrong even if she is your sister chasing you around the house with a knife, then you throw a chair and its her fault for not ducking fast enough.J/K

Let me explain this a little more.First I have not heard the tone since I hit the radio. As far as the tone. When it has happened, it does not matter if the cd player is on or the FM. The sound happens on all the stations and is the same volume no matter what the volume on the radio is. It has nothing to do with cell phones and any other kind of portbable device. In my opinion, it is either the amp is going bad or the head unit is going bad.I am just wondering if anyone can confirm this ( has happened to them ), or if they think it could possibly be the amp or head unit.

This reminds me of a couple weeks ago... I work in a hotel. This guy CALLED THE POLICE complaining that we "put a wire in his room" and all he could get on his radio was at first only in polish, and then only in spanish, no matter what station he put it on... we (the police and I) just looked at him like he was crazy and they took him out.Sorry for the off-topic...And now back to your scheduled programming...
