Just curious, as I have had this happen to me several times over the years - Does anyone have problems with garages/oil change places overfilling when changing the oil? I think they are confused by the fact that there are 2 sizes of engine:(from the '03 Owner's Manual)1.8L Engine (Code 8) . . . . . . . . . 3.9 quarts (3.7 L)1.8L Engine (Code L) . . . . . . . . . 4.8 quarts (4.4 L)and these actually changed at some point in time:(from the '06 Owner's Manual)1.8L (Code 8) 4.4 qt 4.2 L1.8L (Code L) 4.7 qt 4.4 LI have a Code 8 (2003), and they constantly screw it up, seems worse lately too. Last time I took it in I specifically said they need to pay attention to the codes, and to not overfill. They of course overfilled it anyway. So since I either have to take it back in or drain the excess myself almost every time I take it in now, I'll be doing my own oil changes from here on out!

your own oil change is the way to go i dont trust anyone touching my car.

I don't trust anyone either,plus it's cheaper.

Yep, do it yourself & know it's done right. 4qts synthetic blend and Purolator PureOne GT filter for under $15. Get 'er done.

Get 'er done.Not gonna plus one this one, B/C I use Mobil1 but I'll Plus 1/2 B/C i do use a PureOne Filter.

Make sure you get the GT filter..........it's a little longer with a little more filtration material.

Seems like our engines (base and GT) take awhile longer for the new oil to hit the pan during the fill process. For those of us who change our own oil, it isn't a problem as all it takes is patience. However, the drain & fill shops don't have the time to wait to do it properly, and this always leads to overfilling. If you have to take your car to a place like this, just tell them exactly how much oil you want put in. I have also found that the amount you tell them can be a half quart low (IE: if it takes 4.8Q, tell them to put in 4.3Q). That way you can top it off yourself correctly when you get home. Just don't do any autocrossing on the way home! I do this in the Winter months when it's just too blasted cold to change it myself.And +1 on the bigger filter...every little bit helps.
