Base 05, CAI Questions

I have searched everywhere trying to find a post that answers my question. Some come close, but perhaps the questions aren't phrased properly to get the right answer so... here's a shot...I have an 05' Base Vibe. I live in Victoria, BC Canada and we don't have a lot of custom car shops here. You can only get K&N Cold Air kits up here. I have a guy I normally deal with for car stuff and when he pulled out his K&N Catalog we could only find an intake for the 05 GT not the Base.In researching whether or not this would work, I have come accross differences in the engines and no one clearly defining whether these GT intakes will work on a base model. What concerns me is that it seems as though there are more connections on the factory intake for the base model than on the GT. I am including a picture to show what I mean. THe base is on the left and the GT with a CAI installed is on the right. On the base pic, I placed a little cross on an extra port to the air intake that the GT engine does not seem to have and the K&N does not have a connection for. What is this for? Can you use a GT intake with a Base model? Are there any other complications to be wary of when putting a GT K&N Intake on a base model?THe one I am looking at is the polished typhoon.

I got a short ram on E-bay. Works great. the conections are one vacume line and the mass air sencor. Ther is another vacume line that attached to the stock air box. I just zip tied it to the new vacume line. PVC.valve

Anything else will need to be modified and opens the door for CEL issues. A CAI is a CAI, it's a tube with a filter. Cosmo may be less expensive but works just as well as the big name brands. Cosmo Racing is Canadian too eh!

if you dont want to go with the cosmo, you can get a K&N for an 03 or 04 base vibe but you will need a breather filter for the extra hose coming out from under the engine covercheck the pic half way down this thread, it shows the breather filterhttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=23919also check out this onehttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=24278

the only two i know CAI for the 05+ are the fujita and cosmo. Neverenoughauto sells the fujita. I dont think you'll get charged extra...."We ship auto parts coast to coast, USA, Canada, and Worldwide! To ensure your order arrives promptly and safely, we use UPS as our preferred courier. You can obtain shipping status and order info by entering your item or order #. Click Here"so I think you're fine.

Let me know how it all turns out. I had the cosmo CAI on my 05 base and I got a CEL all the time stating that my system was running too lean and I was never able to fix it... that's why I have 2 cosmo CAIs sitting in my garage... neither one worked correctly.
