Just got a Vibe today!

I've been looking for a new car for a few weeks and hadn't really found anything that fit what I wanted perfectly. I'm a cyclist so I wanted something that could haul a bike. With gas going up I also wanted decent gas mileage (coming from a '96 Ford Explorer). It also has to be reliable. Finally...it had to be fun to drive and somewhat sporty. I didn't know anything about the Vibe but someone on a mtn. bike forum I go to suggested I take a look at one. Well...that was it. It offered everything I was looking for. There was only one used Vibe for sale in the area that I saw...luckily for me it was exactly what I was looking for. I got a '03 Vibe GT in red. I love the 6 speed manual, makes it a very fun car to drive. Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement.Oh yea...pics...I'll try to get pics later this weekend

So I finally a picture of my car and one of my new Monster Knob shift knob. Car has been running great since I got it, not a single hiccup. I did get it washed today and discovered a few more nicks in the paint than I originally thought it had...and one more slight dent by the rear taillight. Looks like rock chips and parking lot stuff only but still more then I thought it had so a little disappointing. Just goes to show you should shop for cars on a sunny day

I also bought my vibe because of how easy it is to throw my bike in the back. I don't like driving with it on the outside of the vehicle. Also the plastic floor is nice so that any grim on the bike will easily clean out. Only disappointment is that in order to stand the bike I have to remove the seat.Congrats on your purchase, I am sure you will love it.

the question is How many times have you hit LIFT? HAHAHA

No lift yet. When I first got it I filled it up with 89 octane gas since that is the cheapest here in Iowa (ethanol subsidies...woohoo). I didn't know the GT was supposed to have 91 or higher. So, I figure I'll wait until I run through this tank and can fill it up with something better before I venture into "lift" territory. I am curious to see what it feels like though

Yeah...speaking of that...how bad is it to run it on 89? It's been running great but I haven't pushed it up past 4500 or 5000 revs at all.

welcome to the boardif you only fill it with it once or on very rare but only choice times it will be fine. the computer will retard the timing a little bit to adjust for it, so you may be seeing slightly less performance

Paint nicks notwithstanding, you have a VERY sharp looking ride there... Love the two-tone red and black!

Perhaps a search will find it.The paint dings are a fairly common issue with this car. Suggest you get some touch-up paint and try to keep up with it.It's a fun and versatile car which should serve you well if you take care of it. Nice looking Lava. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks guys...I'm loving the car so far. Also, the Monster Knob is great! Never too hot or cold and fits nicely in the hand. I love that it doesn't use set screws too, it's properly threaded for the shifter. A great buy for $40.
