Newbie here

Hi all--I'm new to your forum here. I just brought home my new 2008 Vibe this afternoon. I traded in my '04 Santa Fe. I miss her but she was just getting too expensive to keep with gas prices and my work commutes. But that being said...I think I'm going to like this Vibe. It's a pretty "bare bones" model but I can stuff into it what I need and I like the fuel economy. I don't have a lot of extra money but I hope to spruce up my Vibe a little bit, give it a little bit of personality and make it a bit "girlie", LOL. Linda

Aaack! I didn't even take a picture yet! LOL Ok, I'll take a picture this weekend, but really, don't get excited. It's a real bare-bones car. Dark red in color (I think they call it "Salsa"). Linda

Ok, here's a pic of my new Vibe, just sitting in the driveway. That's hubby's Pontiac G5 behind my Vibe. The more I like at my Vibe and the more I drive it, the more I like it. It's still a huge change from my SUV, but I think I made a good choice. Linda

SALSA >>>> FTW>>> NICE.. my two cents though ditch the babys-r-us shade and tint the windows if you want to keep your toddler cooler... ..You stole my pinstripe...lol

Window tint?

I thought tinted windows in PA were illegal? If not, what's it going to set me back to tint the windows? I can't get the window shade to stay up in the Vibe. Don't know why.

Tech... in PA it is illegal to have your windows tinted unless it's done by the factory or less than 70%. Most SUV's are tinted darker than what I have on my Vibe. The rules change from year to year. But, if you do like I did and keep the tint on the light side and don't tint the front two windows most, and i want to say MOST cops will not bother you because of it. Frankly I work about a block away from one state police baracks and I see state police on a daily basis, even park next to them at local stores. I have never had an issue with them. I have even gotten stopped for speeding and the cop never said a word about the tint on the windows. They look at it as a saftey issue for them. If they stop you and can not see in the car they don't know what types of problems they will run in to. BUT if you have tint that when they are shining their 5million powered spot lightLOL on your car and can see inside with that they usually will not bother you. some inspection stations will give you issues as well. Because they are not supoesed to pass your car threw inspection with the tint on the windows. I usually ask if it's a problem before they start if they look at you with a blank stair and say tint... hu.. your off the hook.As you can see from my photo you can still see threw the car during the day. I used 20%.. but if you really want to be on the safe side use 35%.. it's lighter and will give you the same results. If you went with a 3% or a 5% limo tint.. yea.. you will have problems with the cops in PAIf you have the windows tinted by a pro.. you looking in the 200dollar range..I did mine myself so it cost me about 50bucks and about 5hrs of my time.Call a few local tint shops and ask the same question... see what they tell you... you can even call your local police and run threw the story... see what they tell you.http://www.berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/

welcome to the boardi also have tint, its 35% and i didn't tint my drivers door and passenger front. you should have no issue if you do the same. check out the link below to my garage page, all the pics there except the very first one are with it tinted. the 35% does not affect visibility at night. from the outside, it looks darker at some angles than others cause of our black interior. mine cost about $200 and i think it was well worth it. it is a big help with keeping out some of the heat in the summer and what heat does get in is more of a dry heathttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25949

JKGretch I'll never understand why they make townhouses or house for that matter now with out a two car garage.. lol I am sure that because they are using their garage for storage they can't fit the cars in the garage... one car garage... two car family

>We live in this oh so wonderful townhouse with a little itty bitty garage. We could get a car into the garage. Whether or not we could get *out* of the car would be debatable, LOL. So, since this lovely townhouse has very little storage space/closets, are garage is our storage unit. What I wouldn't give to be in a single-family house with a fenced yard for the dogs, but in this area...ain't gonna happen. Single family homes are waaaaay too expensive here. Linda
