disable drl but keep auto headlights?

Is there some way i can do something funky with the key and headlight switch or something to disable the daytime running lights? Like there was with turning off the hugely annoying seat belt reminder? I've searched on here and all i can find is how to cut a wire to disable the drl's and auto headlights. I want to keep the auto headlights, but disable the drl's since i drive about 1500-2000 miles a week and i'm tired of replacing bulbs (3 so far). Can anyone help? BTW, anyone else in the high mileage club? I'm about to turn over 190,000 miles and the only thing i've had to do is replace the e-fan motor (knock on wood). I love my vibe!!

easiest, simplest, most reversible way to do this is to put a piece of opaque something over the light sensor in the front left corner of the dashboard. The car will think it is dark, and will only turn on headlights, not half dim drls, but auto headlights will work fine and the last few sets of sylvania bulbs I've had in mine have lasted less than expected, so I won't buy that brand anymore

When I see all those people driving at night that did not remember to turn their headlights on I wish drl were mandatory. Also nice not to have to worry about turning on the headlights - might save a ticket. And it could be an expensive ticket - driving at a point where you are a-ok but would blow a 0.08. Get stopped for not having your headlights on, the officer detects a telltale odor etc.

on the 03-04, with the engine off, pull that parking brake up 1 tick. start the engine. drl's are off. one click on the e-brake will not affect drivability. totally release the e-brake and the drls will come on again.do a search here on the forums. try thishttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=26981welcome to the family, by the way

thanks for the advice, yall. I've actually had the vibe for a couple of years, but since i knew i was going to be putting hella miles on it, i did'nt really want to customize it. Yall can check out my bagged 99 s10 and bagged 87 suburban at http://www.myspace.com/bigfatjumboi'm all for customizing stuff, but not something i have to drive all the time, ya know?so there's no combo i can do that will turn the drl's off? it's gotta be a hardwired something (besides the parking brake thing)?

I have been trying for a while to do this also. In all of my previous cars it was fairly easy to just pull a fuse for the DRL system. Until my wife's Vue with the auto lamps. but putting highbeams in the lowbean spot fixed that. I found in my manual that it lists an ECM-B fuse in the interior fuseblock, and only lists the DRL as being on that fuse. But, when i pull that fuse, the DRL's are still on, and every lamp and alarm about the seatbelts comes on and the airbags get disabled. Don't want DRL, Do want auto-headlamps.

Just get rid of it all, I can't imagine that reaching your hand over and turning a dial for the headlamps is that much of a nuisance.I hated my auto lamps. One biggy was that they were not adjustable, so driving home and around in CT, lots of trees, so it was constantly turning on and off all the time. What an annoyance. I also did the mod to allow my fog lamps to go with just my parks and not headlights only. But since putting in my HIDs I really put them all on at once!

not to sound like a dunce, but all I have to do to disable my 05's DRL is to snip wire 12 on the DRL module ? I don't care about using the fogs with parking lights.
