I am looking around right now to add a new family member. Just wondering if anyone has the same dog I am looking at and any advice on where to get one. Reference to a breeder or something.I am looking at getting a Lhasa Apso.

Looked on the site. Nothing really interests me. I would like to adopt, but I think the wife wants a puppy ( born to 1 yrs old ). But I do appreciate the site Keith. Always worth checking out.

do a bit of research and with a little patience you can find the right dog... my two took me awhile to find... and I am still working on Lilly... shes my problem child as we speakI totally get the I WANT IT now attitude and I was there myself... but as the saying goes... good things come to those who waittry contacting the state coordinator and see what they suggest

I went to the pet shop yesterday. They had a 8 week old, but they wanted $1300 for him. i know that is really high. But then again, pet stores have to make their money too.I used to have one when I was a kid and now I just really want one again. It will probably take me some time to find one. I might even go by the animal shelters around here.My only problem is how the other dog is gonna be with it.

if the dogs don't get along with in the first min of seeing each other... it's not going to work.. but if they just sniff and start playing or ignore each other your golden

PLEASE rescue! And please...spay/neuter pups. I do not wish anyone go through what I'm going through now with my girl (my 2nd dog with breast cancer) My friend's maltese has just been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Good luck with your search.

Stay away from the pet stores...find a local breeder or go through a rescue. Pet store dogs come from puppy mills and are often sick or were taken away from their mother too soon. Plus, being kept in a crate 24/7 and being forced to pee and poop in their bed area sets you up for a whole host of problems later on that you don't want.Rescue would be your best option...check out the link posted in the first reply. You may not get a puppy, but honestly, adult dogs are just as lovable and have just as much life left in them...plus, you don't have to housetrain them!

you can check out dogster.com They have a quiz you can take to see what kind of dog would fit you best. They also have dogs and puppies that are for sale/free from private owners.

good luck on your puppy search! My parents had to put down their dog (my dog) 2 weeks ago. Last Friday, we got them a new puppy and settled on a "designer" dog from 2 small breeds: Bishon Frise and Coton. They were very worried about health issues since our toy poodle died from some unknown health causes: liver failure and we think cancer in the throat. After much research, we found the Coton's to have virtually NO health problems (but purebred is $2000+ with lifetime health guarantee) so we wanted the mix to prevent even more genetic issues. Plus, they are hypoallergenic (don't shed) and will be about the same size, but this one will be a tad bit smaller. Just the cutest little girl!

Well, don't get me totally started on Designer mutts, but you realize this Coton/Bichon mix is a SUPER high maintenance dog? Start teaching this pup to accept brushing & combing yesterday! And as for the "hybrid vigor", that's a joke. You're combining two sets of health issues (and yes, Coton's certainly DO have health issues). Toy breeds have health issues. Yes, some less than others but they still have issues. Now don't get me wrong, I love the toys. I have two Pugs myself. There's a nightmare of health problems! Though I have lucked out thus far with my two--and they are both rescues from lousy breeding. Sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw.
