Well hello and as my super long title says, I'm a new vibe owner, and although I've been lurking around here as my interest in the little hatchback has been provoked! I was in the market for a used car and since my dad goes to a couple vehicle auctions in the state, I decided that would be my first bet to score a good deal! The first one i was bidding on was very nice, loaded package (sunroof, airbags, matching exterior trim work, and the rest), it was silver and looked pretty good, a 04, with maybe 70k, if I remember correctly.. It was really clean, and had minor cosmetic damage. I quit at 9k or so. I should have went to 9 5. Anyways my 2nd find at the auctions was a 03, with 110k miles on it, must of all been highway miles, cause it still looks very new for a Ohio car, for the year and miles! Anyways I got it for in my opinion the right price, I won't reveal my price until a couple of "old timers" give me their estimates on what they think it would go for! The car is Red, has no radio, sunroof, has the plastic exterior trim, has side and front airbags, and a couple of other oddball things!!! It was def. female owned and operated prior to me! I went and got new filters, spark plugs, oil, serp belt, and windshield washer fluid! Tomorrow morning I will do all those services to the car and get to test drive it with some good oil (doing a oil flush with some cheap new oil for 2-3k miles, then switching it to a $3-4/qt full synthetic! Well if you made it this far, I have a few basic questions which I know I should search for, as I've been on many other forums. But The car has power locks/windows and the likes, does the stock model usually come with a keyfob? Because as I bought mine as-is used condition I didn't get any, I'm going to junkyards and the likes tomorrow, so I will look for some, fobs and the likes! Then E-Bay, I already downloaded the crazy hokey-pokey keyfob reset instructions! Some crazy Japanese man designed those instructions, I assure you!Lastly my vibe came with no radio faceplate! It does have a cd player slot though and then the usual look of when you take the faceplate off. then it has a small empty slot underneath it (obviously where the large stock player filled). Basically since I have no faceplate, I know this isn't the stock model, could it be the stock 6-disc changer? IF so does that have a removable faceplate? I'm going to rip it out and see if the stock harness is still intact, then I will buy a new one ebay/junkyard/here! Well I will take pictures tomorrow, and let you all know how much I love my new purchase! Sorry for the length, but I'm a bit excited! Thanks for your time-Paul-

Welcome to the family! You will find some great people and info on this site! As for the radio, sounds like it had an aftermarket HU with the detachable face and empty space below it. You may just need to replace it with a factory system or buy a new aftermarket HU.

Hmm, good to see a nice quick response. Nice to see this is a pretty active forum! Yeah as I feared it was a aftermarket one! I hope its got a sticker or something, and I can find out what it is exactly! However I have absolutely no interest in any cd based console (cds are extinct tech, in my world). I'm either going to put a mini-itx computer in the console or find a am/fm radio with some nice inputs for a ipod or the likes.I also remembered seeing a little plastic thing up by the windshield on the driver side. I'm guessing this is a part of the alarm feature, probably blinks or something for alarm feedback. If I'm correct then this car must have the keyfab package, anyone on here got 2 for sale?Well thanks again.

Welcome to genvibe. The little plastic bubble in the driver-side corner of the dash is a light sensor for switching the daytime/nighttime lights. No alarm was standard (just a blinking little red LED in the stock radio to make it look like it had an alarm), but I think it should have had a fob for unlocking the doors (at least the later models did).

welcome!I think the 6disc would be located under the passenger seat? not sure though as i only have a 1disc cd player stock. to get a ipod plugged in you'll either need to get a stock HU and then a ipod2car or similar kit, OR get another aftermarket HU that has the mini audio in or ipod plug in.post pics soon!!

Ok, I'm sorry I have yet to of posted photos, I suppose I've been really busy! I bought this car primarily to drive to Florida for a months so of work. And since then I've had to buy some remote key fobs, change all the fluids, get insurance, please the girlfriend, pack my bags.. .... The list goes on! Well I decided to get the windows tinted on the little vibe, so I did that yesterday, I got 20% all the way around! It really looks awesome and makes the car! I can't post any photos until my sisters boyfriend gets home, I don't want to leave their place unlocked ;x! So I promise soon! I don't have the before tint photos on me, so you will have to wait! Hopefully he has a CF card reader, otherwise it will have to be a cell photo heh..

OK since I couldn't upload the file via the connection on this site, I just photobucketed it... Hopefully this works!! Well here is the car-- Hope you all like it, I think the window tint makes it!Next step will be putting on some aluminum alloy rims off my friends Toyota Celica, if they are lighter than the steel rims!

i know i'm late, but welcome to the family. i think you chose a great car for the florida trip, the seats in the vibe are great. i drive to vegas a lot, which is 4 hours away from me, and i have no problems at all. i've driven for about 8 hours straight a few times, again with no problems. they must have some type of anti-(removed)-numbing mechanism built in. i love these cars the vibe really looks like it's in great shape, but i have a question... how did you know it was female owned, did you find 3 weeks worth of clothes inside it?? lol btw, your color is "salsa"

Looks great! But, that tint will get you a big ticket in Florida if you spend any amount of time here. I speak from experience; they are pretty aggressive with tint. 20% is OK in the back, but fronts can be no more than 35%.

Ohh man ;x.. Well I knew the tint was illegal, its illegal in Ohio where I'm from, as well- But I know some people who have been pulled over numerous times, and have never been questioned about it.. I guess I'll just have to drive around with my windows down while I'm in Florida, I'll just tell em hey, I've never had any problems in my home state, and maybe for once I'll get some leeway (doubts it)! Well I'm almost ready for my 2nd portion of the trip! Another 13 or so hours coming my way!!! Hopefully its nice and warm down there! Thanks for the replies everyone..Florida here I come!I knew it was a females car cause on the E-brake there was glitter, in the glovebox there was glitter, it smelled a bit girly.. And the engine was hurting for some TLC. Not that all girls aren't auto savy, but I'd say the majority just neglect their cars, or take em in to a mechanic.. The oil was lookin horrible, almost to the point it made me not want to buy it!! Rusty orangeish lookin oil... The engine purrs like a champ, and shes getting great mileage, so I can't complain...Later guys-

well i'm sure you'll be ok in florida. usually if they see your out of state plates, they'll leave you alone. in cali, there isn't supposed to be any tint on the front windows, but i had my indiana car out here for a while with 20% on the front and never got hassled. you should be good. yeah i know what you mean about most girls and their cars. my girlfriend sees no real point in me spendin several hours detailing n stuff. i think she'd rather sit in front of the computer all day or somethin instead of makin her car look as good as possible. i don't give a damn though, at least MINE looks great have a safe trip

Not trying to be a stick in the mud; just fair warning.Tint Law in OH 50% front, any amount in rear, so he's illegal at home(note the 3 tinted cars in the lot behind him in his pix)"In Florida, law enforced by the use of light meters and can apply to out-of-state motorist."
