well, started off that i tweaked my back again, so i've been hurting all day, was shoveling my car out of the snow..then my driver side wiper broke(which i'll explain i think how)...then i was just gettin frustrated with it all, shovelling, the snow, brushing my car off..so i put my stock wiper back on, then started to head to work. the car was on for about 10 minutes with the front windshield defrost on, then all the way to work.got to work and realized my window was cracked..which i didnt realize til then, so im assuming it got it on my way home and was just a small thing, but grew bigger cause of the cold and heat from the defrost. as for that wiper blade i think the rock..or whatever it was, came up and hit the connecting piece that goes into the wiper arm and broke it without me knowing til i went to move it this morning to put it back down onto the glass.all day it's been inside and it seems to be getting worse, i guess finally getting to 10,000km, this is my gift.it's alot worse in person cause you can see all of the cracks, theirs a few that go up the middle and on the driverside towards the roof, probably about half way. got some quotes, cheapest was $295+tax so i'll have to see how im gonna do this.

Usually the insurance deductable for a windshield is $50.00-$100.00. Most auto glass places will eat the $50.00 just to get the replacement job so it costs you nothing. Your insurance will not go up. I've had 3 windshields done in 3 years plus a repair, all for free.

damn man i'm sorry to see that.i've had several chips on my windshields (mine is sandblasted now), but the worst one is from a couple lil kids standin on the train underpass who decided it would be funny to drop a big rock on my car as i drove by, and of course it hit right in the center of my windshield. i tried to catch the lil cretins, but they were gone by the time i was able to pull over n look for em. it almost shattered the damn thing hopefully you can get it fixed cheaper

Your insurance rates probably won't go up - but multiple glass claims might cause an insurer to reject you. When I changed insurance companies a few years ago they questioned me about four (I think) glass breakage claims. When I brought to their attention the circumstances of each, that I had four cars insured and that these claims were over a span of several years it became a non issue. BTW, have not had a glass claim since.

Almost looks like a bullet hole. I got a bunch of pits in my windshield after 3 years figure I will replace it this spring after all the sand is gone from this winter.

This sucks and I know you need cash right now too! I am on my second windshield. They are very cheap and I had a $250 glass deductible but after I saw how cheap they were, had it lowered to $100 and paid for this one in full.

well i found my package for my insurance and it states that i have a $300 comprehensive coverage, so it'll be useless to go through the insurance cause they'd only be paying like $25. so i guess im just gonna have to pay with my credit card or if i can hold out til next pay..either way im gonna be short $325 or so..which sucks but i need to do this.

Comprehensive is different that glass coverage, at least down here. I would double check your package or call your insurance company. I had to have a new windshield because I had a crack in mine and the guy who did it did a hack job (Mobile Glass Installation, just a FYI) I talked to the insurance company and they told me to take it to a dealer to get fixed and they covered it.

ya, i called them up aswell and they said that it's apart of the comprehensive deductable, i guess it's different up here

I was looking at the location of that impact. It looks as if the wiper blade could have been removed from the arm, and then the arm was lifted up and allowed to snap down on the glass.

The same thing happened to me last summer, one chip that creeped badly when I washed the car on a hot day. I didn't have glass coverage then, I do now.
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=28570Call a couple different glass companies and check the web, Diamond Auto Glass came to to my house and replaced it for $247.00. They might do business in Canada too.

Oh no...I'm so sorry that had to happen to your baby! It happened to me too, only a few months after I finally got the car, and we actually saw the 'thing' flying toward the windshield, spinning like a football at high speed. Out of all the cars on the road, it had to find mine. I hope that the insurance will take care of you without out-of-pocket expense, and I hope you feel better soon!

as i mentioned, insurance would cover it but i got a $300 deductable so it's useless to go through insurance. but as of tuesday, and possibly wednesday if something comes up, i'll be getting a new one
