Saw some of the Grammy's last night, Carrie Underwood was frigin gorgeous and sang really well. I was impressed, and that outfit was hot!But who in the **** is Herbie Hancock? Album of the year?? I have no idea who this guy is and I listen to the radio all the time!Aside from that we gave some drugged up English chick (Winehouse) 5 grammies and let her perform from overseas. I guess denying her a Visa to come to this event wasn't enough. Foo Fighters did a good song as well. But I'm more thrown off by trying to figure out who this guy double H is and why Winehouse got so mayn awards.

Search HHC "rocket" on Utube... that IS what made him famous.. IDK about the rest... I don't even know one of Winehouses songs, but, the naughty things I'd do to her make up for that..

You young kids!!! Herbie's without a doubt one of the greatest legends in Jazz... If you haven't heard of him, you've been listening to the wrong stations. You probably won't be finding him somewhere you can hear the latest teeny bopper pop crap. lol! There was a lot more to Herbie than Rockit, I'll listen to anything he's done except that tune. But yes, he did have a claim to fame on that one. I'm more of a fan of what he did in the 60's and 70's... Listening to Head Hunters right now, now that's a cool album.

Must be before your time. I knew about him growing up in the 80's. That "rocket" video freaked me out when I was a kid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbie_Hancock

I am pretty open to all types of music, even country. 80's and such. But I guess I may know one of his songs if I heard it.

Kanye is never going to win...he's alienated himself from the music establishment. Winehouse wasn't going to bag best album this year.Herbie won because:1) his album was a tribute (to Joni Mitchell)2) it had a collection of all-stars (Norah Jones, Tina Turner, Corina Bailey Rae..Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland)3) he's being recognized for a life's body of workWish this was a sign that true musical talent will start being recognized, but probably not.

Classic rock... mostly drugs...

You can thank Herbie for that annoying record scratching that has been sooo overused in music over the years.

Hard to believe anyone not knowing who Herbie Hancock is. I guess if you only listen to rock and rap you could overlook him. As others said, he's been around a long time and is considered one of the best. One of my favorites won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, "Call Me Irresponsible" by Michael Buble. He's very popular worldwide and has sold over 15 million albums in 5 years. Three original #1 singles in the past couple of years, "Home", "Everything", "Lost".
