Clearly one can see that this blade needs replacementI used Toyota part #85214-12310Pull the wiper arm away from the car and rotate the blade outwardPull the blade assembly to the left. The blade is held by tension. To get the rubber wiper out, carefully bend it about 1.5 inches from the end until it clears the retainerThe rubber is now free to slide outThere are two 'backbones' that need to be re-used with the new rubber bladeThe replacement has grooves on each side to receive the 'backbones'Slide the rubber blade back into assemblyGently bend it to get it back in. Take care not to tweak the backbonesHere the wiper is snapped back onto the armMy index finger points to the tensioner/detent that holds the wiper in position. Give it a little push to assist the reassemblyAll done!

good write up, but you shoulda put it in the "tech how-to and do it yourself" thread..but one of the mods will move it, just saying for future posts. i never really knew how to change it, i figured you'd change the whole thing and not just the rubber blade it self

The rubber insert is about $3.00 at a Toyota dealer and takes 10 minutes to change.

It takes me much closer to the 30 sec. when i change just the insert. It is also not necessary to revove the blade asymbly from the vehicle.

You guy's are genius. So following the instructions of this site, I just replace the insert of the rear wiper of my Vibe 2005.Here the breakdown (all Canadian Prices, roughly 1$ (CDN) = 1$ (US), those days).Replacement blade unit from GM dealership: 25.15$+tax = 28.39$Replacement blade unit from Toyota dealership: 10.65$+12.02$ (not in stock)Replacement insert (qty 1) from Toyota dealership: 4.20$+tax = 4.74$So I just replace the insert, took me 5 minutes, real easy, worth it.Thanks again for your knowledge.
