Well I saw these on a VOTM pic and thought they looked nice and would add some unigueness to my car. I headed down to a local store that specializes in automotive paint to match my car. The actually wanted a differant numebr than the 62u, apprantly there is a number right next to that number , must be how that particualr batch wa smade then the generic paint code? I ae that aerosolizes the paint so I could put it on. I ended up doing 3 coats of paint and 2 clear coats. A guy at work recomended i get a little buffer and some rubbing compound to really polish it up and make it smooth. The color looks a bit dark in the pic, but all i have is a camera phone to take pics : )
I just posted about wanting to do this earlier this week:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31886They look great! You gotta post pics of them on the vibe! Did you have use any primer or an adhesion promoter to get the paint to adhere without peeling? Did you need to buy a special spray gun to get an even coat. Inquiring minds want to know...been wanting to do this mod for a while now, just waiting for the rain to let up a little here.
No i didn't use any primer or addative to help with peeling. Figured it should be fine as is. I did clean the covers well sicne they did have soem fine dust on them, probably plastic from when it was cut/made from the mold I assume. To spray the paint on i used this product here that i bought from the place i bought the paint http://www.prevalspraygun.com/automotive.htm once it gets warmer I will post some pics, I plan to use some 3m double sided tape to ensure it stays secure and little to cold for that atm
