this may be an odd question and everyone may just tell me to but a new HU, but I was thinking cheap for the time being.I have a 2003 Vibe GT with the Moon & Tunes option. It has the single CD player and I've seen some factory HU's on eBay and other places some with the 6 disc changer and the Nav unit. Since I have the Moon & Tunes, are these radios interchangeable or is it move involved than a simple radio change out.

I'd suggest an entry-level aftermarket HU over the upgraded vibe version. You can get into a decent entry kenwood deck with ipod/mp3 integration for around $100, and it will sound substantially better.

Take their advice, I am at the dealer now because my radio has to be replaced, but once it goes out of warranty i am replacing it with a HU that can support my MP3 Player, also the sound quality will be better ten-fold even with the stock speakers.These Stock units are not worth the plastic that they are made of. Its all old-school electronic parts that they are made of.Plus if you take a radio from say a Grand Prix, they will not interface to the vibe properly without some major re-programming, and even then it still may not work...

You can also use units from 2003 and 2004 (only!) model year Matrixes. I put a 2004 Matrix 6CD in my Dad's 2005 Vibe with M&Ts. Works great. Do not use radios from other Matrix years or from other GM vehicles.I would also recommend against the NAV unit. The map data has not been updated since it was originally released.

What about the 'security codes' that you need to put in when you replace a radio? Is there an easy way to do this? Can it be disabled?

The stock radio is fine if you don't mind having half or less of the display illuminated. I have never heard of such crap radios in any car in my life.

Yes, I lost about half mis display like 3 days after the warranty was up! The dealer was nice and replaced the radio for me anyway. But talk about timing, huh? It seems like everything manufactured today has a life and is disposable afterwards. i want to open a "Fix-it" shop, but I am sure I'd go bankrupt!
